A Zionsville Community High School senior, August plans to attend Purdue University to major in Professional Flight ✈️. Through 4-H, he developed his marksmanship skills and gained confidence through practice and dedication. His favorite 4-H activity has been Shooting Sports 🎯, where he learned focus, discipline, and sportsmanship. 💚

🌟🍀 Luke Kouns | Union Innovators
A 10-year 4-H member and Zionsville Community High School senior, Luke plans to attend college to study Computer Science and Psychology 💻🧠, with the goal of starting his own software development company. Through 4-H, he learned the importance of determination and continuous self-improvement. His favorite 4-H activity has been Public Speaking 🎤, where he built confidence and communication skills that will serve him well in the future. 🍀

We had a great time at our recent Composting 101 Workshop learning how to turn everyday organic materials into a valuable resource for healthier gardens and landscapes. 🌿🍂🌼

A big thank you to Boone County Solid Waste Management District for partnering with us and helping participants learn practical ways to reduce waste and improve soil health! 💚♻️

Interested in taking your composting knowledge a step further? 🪱 Join us for our upcoming Vermicomposting Workshop, where you'll learn how worms can transform kitchen scraps into nutrient-rich compost and even build your own vermicomposting bin to take home! 🌱🪱

One of the best ways to grow as a showman is to listen to the judge's feedback and learn from each experience. 🌟 Every show is an opportunity to improve your skills, build confidence, and become a better exhibitor.

👏 Remember to thank your judges, volunteers, leaders, parents, and everyone who has helped you prepare for fair season. Their support and encouragement help make your 4-H journey possible! 💚

⚠️ Have you seen poison hemlock around Boone County? ⚠️

This invasive plant is becoming increasingly common along roadsides, fence lines, and ditches. While its white flowers may look harmless, poison hemlock is highly toxic to people and animals and can quickly spread throughout an area.

🌱 Learn how to identify poison hemlock and help prevent it from spreading in our community.

If this plant is growing in your yard, ditch, or along your fence line, don't ignore it.

Poison hemlock is one of the most common invasive plants along roadways, and this time of year it's hard to miss with its tall stems and clusters of white flowers. The problem? It spreads quickly, crowds out native plants, and is very toxic.

Knowing how to identify poison hemlock is the first step to protecting your family, pets, and local ecosystems. Check out this week's Invasive Plant of the Week graphic to learn what to look for and help stop its spread before it produces thousands of seeds.
