Our crew lined up this afternoon for an epic send-off as our students sailed into summer break! Even our favorite seagull friends are catching the wind and heading out for vacation.

BRRRRRT! 🚨 That is the official sound of the final bell ringing, and school being officially out for the summer! Teachers have already cleared the parking lot, and Skipper has officially traded his backpack for a beach ball. 🏖️🎒

We want to send a waves of gratitude to our amazing Captains. You worked hard, learned a ton, and proved that this school has the best community on the planet. Now, it’s time for the ultimate summer itinerary: 90% splash pads, 10% trying to read a book in a treehouse, and 100% brain freeze from ice cream. (Our math might be a little rusty, but hey—it’s summer vacation).

Have a safe, sun-drenched, and absolutely phenomenal summer break, Captains! Go make some waves, and we'll see you back at the docks in August! 🌊☀️

Drop anchor, Captains—we actually made it! ⚓️😭 It is officially the LAST morning of LaGuardo Elementary’s historic, maiden-voyage school year!

Looking back at August, we were all just sailing into uncharted waters. But thanks to our incredible crew of teachers, staff, and parents, we didn't just stay afloat, we absolutely crushed it. Skipper is so proud he’s practically squawking from the rooftop (though honestly, he might just be eye-ing someone's cafeteria tater tots). 🍟👀

Before we officially close the logbook on Year One, we want to see those smiling faces! Drop your obligatory, "Look how much they grew/Look how tired the parents are" last-day-of-school photos in the comments below!

A sweet ending to an amazing year! 🍦
The final countdown to summer is officially on, and we are celebrating all the hard work that made Year One at LGE so incredible!

We want to send a massive thank you to our friends at Andy’s Frozen Custard (andysfrozencustard) for generously donating delicious custard for everyone to celebrate the last week of school. It was truly the perfect, sweet way for our Captains and staff to close out an amazing first year together, and everyone absolutely loved it! ☀️

Game on, Captains!

Huge shoutout to Officer Coggins for making Friday an absolute WIN for our fundraiser top sellers!

Our top Captains got the ultimate VIP treatment on Friday, and it’s all thanks to Officer Coggins. From epic Ring Toss battles and intense Connect 4 showdowns to some seriously impressive Mini Golf putts, these students had the best time celebrating their hard work. Of course, no game day is complete without a mountain of snacks!

Thank you, Officer Coggins, for always steering our students in the right direction and bringing so much joy to our hallways. We are so lucky to have you at LGE! ❤️⚓️💙

LGE Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week last week was a total blast from the past as we traveled back to the 90s to shower our incredible team of Captains with the appreciation and recognition they deserve.

We kicked off the week with a 90s dress-up day, which was only made better by the incredible Nacho Bar provided by LaGuardo Baptist Church. Tuesday gave students a day off, while faculty and staff had a breakfast provided by 109 Church of Christ to brighten up their morning. We came back strong on Wednesday with a "Talk to the Hand" high-five day. Our students went above and beyond handing out unique high fives and smiles, & we stayed fueled thanks to the Snack Cart and Dirty Soda Bar provided by our LGE PTO and Pearl Pediatric Dentistry.
On Thursday, the "You're the Bomb Dot Com" theme brought in so many sweet notes and small gifts from our families that truly touched our team’s hearts. To top it off, the LGE PTO treated everyone to a delicious Chicken Tender Bar. We wrapped up the week with "Ice Slice Baby" on Friday, featuring a Pizza & Ice Cream lunch provided by The Bridge Fellowship. Our families really showed up this week to make sure our staff knew they are "ALL THAT... and a Bag of Chips!"

A huge, heartfelt thank you goes out to our amazing community partners and sponsors. Because of your incredible generosity, we were able to provide our team with delicious meals, exciting activities, and a spectacular raffle. Our school is so fortunate to be a part of a community that understands the importance of our teachers and staff and we are so grateful for everyone’s support to help make our first-ever appreciation week a resounding success.

To our teachers and staff: you are the heart of LaGuardo Elementary. Thank you for choosing to be part of our crew, for the endless energy you pour into our Captains, and for making our very first year so special. We truly wouldn’t be "fly" without you!

🚨 ATTENTION: THE PORTAL TO NARNIA IS CLOSING! 🚨
Is your child coming home suspiciously lighter than they left? Does your laundry room feel eerily empty? We’ve found the culprit: The Lobby Vortex. From designer hoodies to "vintage" water bottles and lunchboxes that may or may not be developing their own ecosystems, we have it all. But like a summer romance, this collection isn't meant to last.

THE FINAL COUNTDOWN
Everything currently living in the lobby must find its way home by Thursday, May 21st. After that, our "Lost and Found Boutique" officially closes, and every unclaimed item will be DONATED to make room for next year’s chaos.

This week only: FIELD DAY SPECIAL
Coming to campus this Friday for Field Day? Between the relays and the popsicles, take a "victory lap" through the lobby! It’s the perfect time to scope out the bins and stage a daring rescue mission for that expensive jacket your kid swore they "never even took to school."

WHY YOU SHOULD CARE:
Save Money: It’s cheaper to reclaim a hoodie than to buy a new one in August.
Save Your Sanity: Stop the morning "Where is my blue water bottle?!" arguments before they start.

Today, we are shining a spotlight on the incredible Nurse Jessica, our amazing school nurse. From bandaging scraped knees to being a calm voice for our students when they don’t feel their best, she does it all with so much grace and patience.
