With an estimated 250–300 participants, Matt and I were beyond overjoyed with the turnout for our very first Distracted Driving Is Scary event! Seeing so many people come out, watching the children smile and have fun, and feeling the love and support from our community meant more to us than you will ever know.

I have poured my heart and soul into creating something meaningful for this community…something that spreads kindness while sharing a message we hope people will never forget. We wanted Distracted Driving Is Scary to be a day filled with memories, fun, and smiles, while also bringing awareness to the very real dangers of distracted driving.

Because behind every distracted driving statistic is a person, a family, and a life that matters.

Our first Distracted Driving Is Scary event was more than Matt and I could have ever imagined. Seeing hundreds of people show up, watching children smile, and witnessing our community unite for road safety and kindness meant more to us than words can express. 🥹

❤️ A Life Remembered. A Message That Could Save Lives.

Sixteen-year-old Kyler Gatica was known for his kindness, his contagious personality, and the way he made others feel included. A junior at Mt. Juliet High School with a bright future ahead of him, Kyler’s life was tragically cut short two years ago.

Now, his parents are turning unimaginable heartbreak into a mission to help prevent other families from experiencing the same loss.

Public Information Officer Justin Beasley shares Kyler’s story, speaking with his mother, Stephanie Gatica, about the son they loved, the legacy he leaves behind, and the importance of staying focused behind the wheel.
