A successful youth summit takes more than a great idea. It takes passionate people willing to share their knowledge, connect with young people, and create experiences that make a lasting difference!

Today, we are celebrating the AMAZING presenters who helped make the inaugural Comanche County Youth Summit such a memorable day for more than 200 sixth graders!

Our planning committee wanted a speaker who was relatable, fun, inspirational, and able to connect with young people. Austin checked EVERY box! He did an amazing job kicking off our day, engaging our students, and setting the tone for everything that followed.

Austin, thank you for saying YES to this opportunity and for being willing to share your story and be vulnerable in front of hundreds of people. We are so grateful you helped us launch this first-ever summit in such an inspiring way!

🎉💚 Y'ALL!!! THE COMANCHE COUNTY COMMUNITY COALITION DID IT!!! 💚🎉

It's been a little over two weeks since we successfully hosted over 200 Comanche County 6th graders for the inaugural Comanche County Youth Summit at FISTA Innovation Park! My apologies for not creating this post sooner. Please know that the delay is in no way a reflection of our planning committee's immense gratitude for the outpouring of support we received from dozens of coalition members, community members, local businesses, school administrators, and so many others who believed in this vision!

First, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the City of Lawton Youth and Family Affairs Committee for providing our coalition with the grant that funded the bulk of this transformative event. Today is our 5th annual TeenCon, and we can barely contain our excitement! We're thrilled to be able to spend the day with the amazing 6th- and 9th-graders from Jefferson County, watching them have fun while learning about the importance of making smart choices that protect their mental and behavioral health.

From interactive workshops to engaging discussions, we've got a fun-filled day planned to empower these young minds with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive. We're passionate about helping them develop healthy habits, build strong relationships, and cultivate a positive mindset that will serve them well throughout their lives.

We would like to extend a huge Thank You to our incredible partners at Ringling Church of Christ for allowing us to use their beautiful facility to host this year's TeenCon. Their generosity and support mean the world to us! We're grateful for their commitment to the well-being of our community's youth and can't wait to see the impact this event will have on their lives.

We are less than a week away from our 5th annual TeenCon! This is a one-day behavioral health conference for all Jefferson County 6th and 9th graders. They learn things like social media safety, communication skills, and substance misuse prevention, just to name a few! And they get free lunch, a free T-shirt, snacks, and also get to participate in a fun activity such as dance, art, and an outdoor relay race.

We are able to bring this to the youth through wonderful sponsors like Ringling Family Care and Terri Sheffield. Thank you so much for your support!

Jefferson County 6th and 9th graders are going to have so much fun on October 7th while learning at the same time. We, along with our other amazing volunteers, are looking forward to spending the day with them! A few things they will learn are social media & internet safety, confident communication skills, and substance misuse prevention.
