Please join us in welcoming Betsy Kelly to the Greg McDonald Foundation as our new Operations Coordinator! ❤️🏒

Betsy will be wearing a lot of hats at GMF, helping with everything from day-to-day operations and fundraising initiatives to community outreach, event planning, and keeping all the moving pieces organized. She’s already hit the ground running, and we’re excited to have her on the team!

A 2025 graduate of Boston College with a degree in Biology, Betsy brings a strong background and a genuine passion for helping others. After gaining clinical experience as a medical assistant, she’s preparing to begin Drexel University’s Physician Assistant Program in August 2027.

Her commitment to giving back, building relationships, and making a positive impact makes her a wonderful fit for GMF.

Meet Joey from the Princeton Junior Tigers 🏒 He’s the kind of coach that makes leadership a priority and focuses on personal growth, a lot like Greg did. That’s partially because he was coached by Greg when he played on the Grundy Senators when he was just 16 years old!

Today, Joey is 24 and coaching Greg’s son Callum. It’s a full circle moment watching him share some of the leadership skills Greg taught him with Callum today.

This kind of empowered, leadership focused coaching is exactly the kind of coaching Greg believed in. Thanks, Joey, for helping kids in our community and carry forward excellent leadership here in our community!

When Greg did this interview with the Eagles back in 2022, we didn’t know that these words would become a part of how we explained his legacy.

Today, we’re sharing it as part our series, a monthly series to remember the life and legacy of hockey coach, husband, dad, and Philadelphia Eagles executive, Greg McDonald who inspired this foundation ❤️

Greg always believed in people’s ability to grow and become better versions of themselves, and he admired people who saw that potential for growth within.

Today, that same idea guides the athletes we choose to support. We’re not just looking for the best player on the ice - we’re looking for kids who see their potential, want to grow as teammates, leaders and people, and are willing to put in the work.

Greg believed that kind of growth mattered far more than where you started.

That was Greg’s Way.

Know a family who needs equipment support? Here's how to get them connected to free gear 🏒

Leveling the Playing Field, our equipment partner, gives donated gear to schools and youth programs rather than directly to families. So the fastest route is usually through the kid's coach or club, who can apply for equipment at levelingtheplayingfield.org.

Ever wonder what happens after you drop skates in a GMF bin? Here's the short version 🏒

➡️ Gear from our bins at Princeton Day School and The Skatium heads to Leveling the Playing Field's warehouse
➡️ Volunteers sort and check every piece
➡️ Coaches from schools and youth programs "shop" the warehouse for their teams at no cost
➡️ Those programs can lower registration fees, so more kids might get to play
