PFLAG Lawrence PFLAG is an organization working to create a caring, just, and affirming world for LGBTQIA+ people. Revised January 15, 2001. Revised July 24, 2011.

Equality

PFLAG seeks a just world in which all people receive understanding and equal acceptance and protection. PFLAG has and will continue to work to change or establish national and state legislation and policies to establish equality and to end discrimination against LGBTQ and other marginalized communities. As bills, resolutions or ordinances are planned or introduced in Congress, states or municipalities, PFLAG will continue to work with legislative or executive branches of government to advocate for those that will help to end discrimination in all of its forms as a strong path toward equality for all. PFLAG is determined to end abusive or harmful policies, practices and legislation. (Adopted by the PFLAG National Board of Directors on March 16, 2017. Previous iterations of this were titled Legalized Discrimination and were adopted by the PFLAG Board of Directors on September 7, 1992. Revised March 18, 2017.)

3000 Le****ns Go To York tells the extraordinary true story of how a le***an bookseller (who also happened to be trans) created the largest gathering of LGBTQ+ women in the UK, and how from 1998 to 2008, the quietly conservative city of York became the unlikely centre of all things le***an!

For one thrilling decade, thousands of women flocked to the York Le***an Arts Festival (YLAF) each autumn, to meet their favourite authors, buy books, hear top female artists live on stage and dance the night away at the ‘disco of a thousand le***ans.’

Featuring interviews with world famous writers Val McDermid, Sarah Waters and Jackie Kay, and the legendary singer Horse, 3000 Le****ns Go To York is a real celebration of the historical significance of this iconic festival!

Lives That Changed the World

As we celebrate Transgender History Month, we honor Sylvia Rivera.

Sylvia Rivera spent decades fighting for transgender people long before the world was ready to listen.

A Latina activist, she believed that no one should be left behind—not because of their gender identity, race, income, or housing status. She challenged the LGBTQ+ movement itself to make sure transgender people were included in the fight for equality.

Her message was simple but powerful: freedom isn’t real until it belongs to everyone.

Today, countless transgender people enjoy greater visibility and support because Sylvia refused to let their voices be forgotten.

BREAKING🚨🏳️‍🌈 Texas Children's Hospital has 90 days to open the nation's first "detransition clinic" — the settlement Ken Paxton forced on the largest pediatric hospital in America.

Ken Paxton, the Texas attorney general, announced the finalized terms on Wednesday and called the deal "a resounding defeat for the radical gender ideology that has preyed on Texas children under the guise of 'care.'" He added: "Activist doctors who harmed children have been fired."

Texas Children's has never admitted breaking a single law. The hospital says it produced more than 5 million documents over three years to the state and the Justice Department, that "all reviews and investigations continue to support the facts — we have been compliant with all laws," and that it settled only "to protect our resources from endless and costly litigation."

The cost: $10 million, with $8,576,000 going to the state of Texas and $1.7 million to whistleblower Vanessa Sivadge. Five doctors permanently lose their hospital privileges and can never be credentialed there again. The hospital also had to rewrite its bylaws so that any physician who provides transition care automatically forfeits privileges.

The clinic must treat patients up to age 21 who received gender-affirming care, free of charge for five years, funded entirely by the hospital. Texas Children's is required to advertise it on its own website.

Texas banned puberty blockers and hormone therapy for trans minors in 2023, which leaves very few Texas kids in a position to detransition at all. Detransition is rare, and researchers find that people who stop usually cite family rejection, cost or social pressure rather than regret.

Brad Pritchett, CEO of Equality Texas, said Paxton is "blackmailing a hospital system into creating a resource that no one is asking for."
