Lawrence Children's Choir

LCC is a non-profit choral arts program based out of Lawrence, KS serving children ages 3-18.

Founded in 1991 by sisters Janeal Crabb Krehbiel and Marilyn Crabb Epp, the Lawrence Children’s Choir has grown from one 40-voice choir to an organization comprised of fix choirs serving singers from Northeast Kansas, including the communities of Lawrence, Perry, Emporia, Osage City, Topeka, Baldwin City and Eudora. Current choirs include Capo (ages 3-kindergarten); Cadenza (1st-3rd grade); Choris

ters (3rd-6th grade); Tour Choir (6th-12th grade); and the Crescendo Choir (Adults). Upon Janeal Krehbiel’s retirement in April, 2012, long-time assistant Carolyn Welch assumed the position of Artistic Director. Carolyn Welch retired after the 2020-2021 season, and Dr. Gabe Lewis-O'Connor, a Lawrence native and LCC alum, assumed the role of Artistic Director in the Summer of 2021.

Sing with Kirsten on June 18th! Singer-songwriter Kirsten Paludan is one of our guest artists at the first ever LCC summer singalong. Born and raised in Lawrence, KS, Kirsten Paludan has been performing, creating art, and making music in the area for over three decades. She has an extensive recording catalogue, which includes two full length solo albums and an EP (self-produced), and many local and national releases. A leader and member of numerous bands, including her own solo project, she has composed music for film and theater, and has also developed and directed multiple theatrical productions premiering locally and on the national stage. Paludan has been a vocal coach, also teaching guitar, piano and songwriting, for almost 10 years. We are so excited for Kirsten and Nick Carswell to lead us in some of your favorite songs. Sing with Nick on June 18th! Nick Carswell is one of our guest artists at the first ever LCC summer singalong. Nick is originally from Limerick, Ireland. He has been performing professionally for more than 25 years, in his native Ireland and across the US Midwest, where he has lived since 2011. His main creative output is as songwriter and frontman for the alt-rock 5 piece, Carswell & Hope who have release 2 full length records and toured internationally. He's also the founder and director of Lawrence Music Alliance and the host of 105 Live on Kansas Public Radio. We are so excited for Nick and Kirsten Paludan to lead us in some of your favorite songs. Tickets on Eventbrite and at the door Thursday, June 18th from 7-9 pm at Maceli’s in downtown Lawrence.
