🔥 JOIN US FOR A FUNDRAISER! 🔥

On Saturday, August 29th, join us at Fidens Brewing Co. in Albany for a family-friendly afternoon of community, support, and fundraising for Albany Fire Battalion Chief Wayne Brennan and DGS Supervisor Anthony Hughes, who were seriously injured in a fuel pump explosion earlier this month.

Enjoy live music throughout the afternoon by the Albany Rock Pit Band and the Erin Harkes Band while you bring the whole family, show your support, and help make a difference for two members of our community who need it most.

Both men are on the road to recovery, and we’re coming together to help support them and their families during this difficult time. ❤️‍🔥

Happy 37th Birthday to our friends at Colonie EMS Department! 37 years of providing exceptional service to The Town of Colonie!

37 Years of Colonie EMS

On August 28, 1989, Colonie EMS began serving our community. In the 37 years since, emergency medical services have changed dramatically.

The ambulance of 1989 and the ambulance of today may look similar from the outside, but what happens inside is very different.

Modern EMS is far more than transportation to the hospital. Today’s EMTs and Paramedics bring advanced emergency care directly to the patient’s side. We can obtain and transmit 12-lead EKGs, treat life-threatening heart rhythms, administer critical medications, manage complex airways, provide advanced trauma care, recognize strokes and heart attacks, and begin treatments that once had to wait until a patient reached the emergency department.

Technology has changed. Medicine has changed. Equipment, education and training have changed. The needs of our community have changed, too.

What hasn’t changed is the reason we are here.

For 37 years, generations of Colonie EMS professionals have answered the call at all hours of the day and night, caring for our neighbors during some of the most frightening and vulnerable moments of their lives.

Today, we celebrate how far EMS has come, everyone who helped build this department along the way, and the responsibility we have to keep moving it forward.

Our thoughts are with our brothers and sisters from the Albany Permanent Professional Firefighters Association Local 2007, the Albany Fire Department, as well as the Albany Department of General Services as two of their own were seriously burned in an accident today. We wish both a speedy and full recovery

As we celebrate America’s 250th birthday, Local 4924 would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Fourth of July!

🎆 If you’re celebrating with fireworks, remember these firework safety tips:

• Leave aerial fireworks to the professionals
• Never allow children to handle or ignite fireworks
• Keep a bucket of water or a charged garden hose nearby
• Light only one device at a time and move away quickly
• Never attempt to relight a “dud” - wait, soak it with water, and dispose of it safely
• Never use fireworks while under the influence of alcohol or drugs
• Keep fireworks away from homes, vehicles, dry grass, and other combustible materials
