The public spoke up when violence against a woman appeared in a golf advertisement. But where is that same outrage when abuse happens behind closed doors?

SafeNest CEO Liz Ortenburger joined Steve Wolford with KSNV News 3, Las Vegas to discuss the backlash surrounding the now-pulled "Good Good Golf" ad and the larger issue it exposed: violence is widely condemned when it is visible, yet domestic violence is still too often minimized, excused or ignored in our homes and communities.

We cannot wait until abuse becomes public, severe or deadly to take it seriously. Learn the warning signs. Believe survivors. Challenge harmful behavior. Intervene safely. The responsibility to end domestic violence belongs to all of us.

Where do Nevada’s candidates stand on domestic and sexual violence?

As voters prepare for the November election, SafeNest is hosting four nonpartisan Candidate Town Halls to give voters an opportunity to hear directly from candidates for Governor and Attorney General.

In 2025, domestic violence was the leading cause of murder in Clark County. These conversations will explore how each candidate plans to strengthen prevention, protect survivors, fund critical services, improve offender accountability, and help build a safer Nevada.

We have been closely monitoring this terrible situation that occurred in the southwest valley earlier this week. Fourteen-year-old Aven Drummond was killed and her mother, Nichole, was critically injured in a recent domestic violence attack in Las Vegas.

This incident is a reminder that domestic violence can affect anyone and that awareness and access to support are critical to saving lives.
