Empowering Community Leaders: How the Covarrubias-Aprendamos Foundation is Supporting Dona Ana Village Association
The Covarrubias-Aprendamos Foundation believes that strong communities are built by investing in organizations that empower individuals to learn, lead, and thrive. Through our partnership with Doña Ana Village Association (DAVA), grant funding has helped strengthen youth programming, expand leadership opportunities, and ensure young people continue to have access to experiences that prepare them for future success.
As a grassroots nonprofit serving Doña Ana County, DAVA is committed to creating opportunities where youth can build confidence, develop leadership skills, and become active members of their community. Through its Youth Trailblazers Program, participants gain valuable life skills through outdoor stewardship, financial literacy, leadership development, cultural activities, and community service. These experiences help prepare young people for future education, employment, and lifelong success.
Reflecting on the partnership, DAVA shared, "Your investment allowed us to continue serving youth without interruption while strengthening the quality of our program." Flexible funding has allowed the organization to invest directly in the youth it serves by supporting leadership stipends, creating employment opportunities for local mentors, and expanding hands-on learning experiences. More than financial assistance, this partnership has provided stability and allowed DAVA to remain focused on its mission of empowering the next generation.

One participant, Jorge, shared, "Being with DAVA helped me get my CPR certification, open my own bank account, learn how to manage my money, and meet new people."
