Many thanks for hiring the guests! Most of the facilities at the Mission are very old and require a lot of maintenance in order to keep them in shape. One area where this has been needed is on the roofs of the living areas. Oscar Jimenez, owner of C&O Construction, has done some great work on the roofs, and pictured is one of the roofs he worked on. Oscar was on the property yesterday and hired two of the guests to help him out on a job (we heard later they did a very good job). This might seem to be a small thing, but sometimes the guests just need a place to get started as they transition to leave the Mission, and it can mean a lot to them. Thank you Oscar!

Fond farewell to Gary! Guest Gary is shown (with Executive Director Evelyn Chavez) holding the key to his new apartment. It has been a blessing to have him stay at the Mission, but for all guests there eventually comes a time when the guest knows it is the right time for them to move on. That time has come for Gary, and while he will be missed by all at the Mission, we are of course very happy for him as he takes this positive step. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Gary!

These big-hearted volunteers from Master-Pieced recently brought some Mother's Day gifts out to the Mission to give to the women staying at the Mission. Thank you ladies, for thinking of us and brightening the day of everyone at the Mission!

American Legion riders on a Mission! It means a lot to the guests and staff at the Mission that community organizations appreciate what the Mission does enough to use their valuable time and resources to help out. American Legion Riders Chapter 4 recently donated some much-needed breakfast items to the Mission, and pictured are the two representatives who delivered them. Thanks so much to all who participated from American Legion Riders Chapter 4!

The Mission is preparing for the National Day of Prayer tomorrow and will have a special morning prayer at 8:00 in the Mission Chapel (1050 W. Amador) with shelter guests & friends, and will be open to anyone who would like to attend.

The Mission will also have a table at a prayer event sponsored by the Crosstown organization at 12:00 noon at the Plaza de Las Cruces, 100 N. Main St., where they will be giving away 100 burritos (first come, first serve) to anyone who would like one. See you there!

Yay, a new roof! These are a couple of pictures of the new roof put on the transitional housing area recently. A lot of the structures at the Mission are getting older and in need of renovation, and this roof was no exception. A generous donor agreed to pay for half of the cost of putting this needed new roof on. Thank you!

The Burrell College of Medicine invited representatives from some of their community partners in to show their appreciation today. As you can see, Evelyn Chavez and Reggie Gibbs, our Executive Director and Assistant Executive Director, represented the Mission well at this function. Burrell students often volunteer at the Mission, and their help is very much appreciated. Thank you for your support, Burrell!

Thank you Salvation Army! The Mission partners with a number of organizations to help serve those in need in the Las Cruces area. Pictured are George and Hector from the Salvation Army picking up approximately 3,000 pounds of clothing from the Mission to be distributed for free by the Salvation Army to those in need.

Clothing that is contributed to the Mission is either sold in the Rock of Ages Thrift Store (the proceeds of these sales are used 100% to support the homeless), given away free to those in need (by organizations such as Twice Blessed Clothing Store or the Salvation Army), or sold as rags (if they are not in good enough shape to be worn). Please consider making a donation, whether it is clothes, other property, or money, to help the Mission serve the less fortunate in the area. For instructions concerning how to give, please go to https://www.lcgrm.org/donations/. Thank you, anything you can give will help! Also, thanks to all of the Mission's partnering organizations!

Huge congratulations to Mission guest Ronald! The Mission will definitely miss him, but it is the goal of every Mission guest to move onward to a new stage in their life, and that is what Ronald is doing. Ronald is shown on the left (next to staff member Ron) holding the key to his new apartment. Best of luck in your new environment, Ronald, our thoughts and prayers will be with you!
