We’re honored to spotlight our newest Mural With a Message, the Po’pay Mural, coming soon to the Mesquite Historic District.

Po’pay was a Pueblo religious leader who organized the 1680 Pueblo Revolt—a defining moment that helped ensure the survival of Pueblo culture and shaped the history of the American Southwest. In 2005, New Mexico honored Po’pay with a statue in the National Statuary Hall—the first person in the collection born on what would become American soil.

🎨 Muralist: Esequiel Rubio

🗿 Original Sculpture Artist: Cliff Fragua
🪨 Medium: Marble
📍 Sculpture Location: US Cultural Visitor Center

This mural is part of our vision to complete 25 Murals With a Message throughout the Mesquite Historic District—uplifting stories of culture, resilience, and shared history through public art.

🎉 Las Cruces Coats for Kids — 31st Annual Campaign Update! 🎉
We have a few big announcements to share!
🧥 Coats have been distributed for 2025, and thanks to YOU, thousands of kids in our community will stay warm this winter. Your generosity truly makes a real difference, and we’re so grateful for your support!
❤️ Together, we supported:
• 20 kids in each of 25 LCPS elementary schools
• Doña Ana County Head Start
• LCPS Bilingual Community Outreach
• Aprendamos Cariño Family Health & Wellness Program
📘 Special grants were also awarded to:
• Gadsden Independent School District (GISD)
• Hatch Valley Public Schools
✨ And we’re not done yet. The need in our community continues to grow, with 50 kids per LCPS elementary school identified as needing a warm coat. We’re continuing to fundraise now so we can meet next year’s need.

🌟 Introducing Murals with a Message — right here in Las Cruces' Historic Mesquite District! 🌟

We’re excited to share the launch of Murals with a Message (MWM) — a community-driven public art project bringing powerful, meaningful murals to one of Las Cruces’ most historic neighborhoods.

Our mission is simple: celebrate culture, uplift community voices, and create art that inspires.
From honoring local history to sparking conversations about our shared future, these murals are designed to make an impact.

But this project grows stronger with YOU.
💛 We’re asking for the community’s support — whether through shares, volunteers, partnerships, or donations to help bring more murals to life.

👉 Follow our journey and share with friends who believe in community art!
