It is so gratifying to see the hard work and dedication of our LEAF 360! collaborative be recognized and supported. We cant wait to work with our partners to provide expanded opportunities to support student wellness.

🌱 LEAF is growing—and so is our impact!

We’re thrilled to share that the Lapeer County Community Foundation has received $75,000 in funding from the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) through the Michigan Children’s Savings Account (CSA) Program Innovation & Sustainability Initiative, administered by CEDAM: The Community Economic Development Association of Michigan

This initiative supports established CSA programs as they strengthen long-term sustainability, accessibility, and impact.

The Lapeer County LEAF is part of the Michigan CSA Network and continues to be recognized as a leader and innovator in this field. Through LEAF, students across Lapeer County are connected early with community-based savings accounts that help them begin thinking about—and planning for—the postsecondary pathway that’s right for them.

This new funding will help us expand LEAF 360!, our innovative whole-child approach that connects students and families with resources supporting medical, physical, mental and socio-emotional, and financial health. It will also allow us to strengthen partnerships, refine our approach, and share what we’re learning with CSA programs across Michigan.

We’re grateful for this investment in Lapeer County students and families and excited about what’s ahead. When a community comes together to help kids dream big, the possibilities are pretty amazing. 💚🌱

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library was built on a simple, beautiful idea: every child deserves a book of their very own.

Many people don’t realize that this dream is being brought to life in Lapeer County through the support of the United Way of Lapeer County and Four County Community Foundation , helping put free books into the hands of children across Lapeer County.

Congratulations, Tessa Knickerbocker, on your new role as a Kindergarten Teacher at Imlay City Schools!
We’re so proud to see a past scholarship recipient return to Lapeer County to begin her teaching career. Her story is a wonderful reminder of the lasting impact of investing in our students and our community.
💬 “These scholarships have allowed me to go through college stress free! If it wasn’t for these scholarships, I wouldn’t be where I am today financially. I was honored four years ago when receiving these scholarships and didn’t realize the impact they would have on me now as an adult. Tessa graduated from Central Michigan University with her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She is thankful for the opportunity to join the Imlay City School staff and shares that she hasn't had a moment when she hasn't felt welcome and included. She can't wait to share her joy in teaching and work alongside her fellow staff members to contribute to a welcoming and inclusive environment at Weston.

Tessa knew she was meant to be a teacher from the day she was born, but the person who inspired her most was one of her elementary teachers, Mrs. Leonard. Every single day, she made learning fun and made the classroom feel like home. She inspired Tessa to become a teacher and has also inspired many of the ideas she uses in her own classroom.

Located at Skyline Camp And Retreat Center , this naturalistic installation, with its earth tones and organic shapes, invites a peaceful stroll through the woods, a perfect example of interactive land art. Skyline's labyrinth was a loving gift honoring Linda Knappenburger. A magical place nestled among the trees; campers and retreat groups use it for play, prayer and meditation. Visitors are welcome to experience this meditative space on the first Sunday in May each year, during the camp's open house as well as during other special community events.
