We're celebrating Karen Korbelik as she begins her next chapter after 15 years with Good Cheer.

Karen first joined our team as Food Pantry Manager and, over the years, has been a part of shaping Good Cheer into the organization it is today, most recently serving as our Operations Manager. Through every role, she has led with kindness, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to our community.

Karen shared that what she will treasure most are the relationships she's built, the community connections she's made, and the opportunity to serve her neighbors. We know those relationships have meant just as much to all of us. Her support, encouragement, and steady presence have touched so many staff, volunteers, and community members over the years.

Karen, thank you for believing in Good Cheer, for being a part of this community, and for the care you've brought to your work every single day. Please join us in thanking Karen for her 15 years of service!

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our friend and longtime Good Cheer supporter, Jay Ryan.

Jay had a large impact on Good Cheer and on our entire community. As Board President, he helped guide Good Cheer through some of the most transformative years in our organization's history. Under his leadership, our Food Pantry moved into its current Bayview location, our Food Points System was introduced, and the Good Cheer Farm and Garden were established.

He believed every neighbor deserved to be treated with dignity and respect. He was known for leading by example, whether chairing meetings, helping raise critical funds, or stocking pantry shelves each week. Even after stepping down as Board President, Jay continued to volunteer, support fundraisers, and help shape Good Cheer's future. He often said that volunteering at Good Cheer didn't feel like work because he was surrounded by wonderful people working toward a worthy goal: eliminating hunger in our community.

Jay's kindness, steady leadership, generosity, and value in community have left an enduring mark on Good Cheer. The organization we are today exists because of his vision and dedication. Our thoughts are with his family and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. We are grateful for the many years Jay gave to Good Cheer. His legacy will continue to inspire our community for years to come.

Jay's Remembrance will be on August 8, 2026 at 11:00am at St. Augustine's in the Woods.
