Thank you to everyone who took time out of their day to attend a very productive Baronial Populace Meeting and a very special "Thank You" to Jarl Bjorn for keeping it running so smoothly!

Thank you to everyone who represented Dun Or so well and nobly at this weekend's events, and especially to the groups, stewards, and populaces that welcomed them with such hospitality!

Congratulations to Reb Rivkah (Ember), who acheived the rank of Bowman at Fire & Ice Tourney this weekend!

Duena Tsura and Cillian will once again be offering a magnificent meal plan for our Baronial Encampment at Great Western War! For more information, or to arrange participation, please reach out to Duena Tsura or Cillian (Victoria or Benjamin) as soon as possible, as the window of opportunity to participate will be October 23.

Due to Great Western War, and the approaching holiday season, the Barony will be observing the following schedule changes:

FIGHTER PRACTICE (ARMORED)

Armored Fighter Practice will be cancelled on October 27, November 3, November 10, and November 24.

FIGHTER PRACTICE (RAPIER)
Rapier Fighter Practice will be cancelled November 6
Sunday Rapier practices are cancelled until further notice.

ARCHERY PRACTICE
Archery Practice will be cancelled on October 25 in observation of The Agincourt Tournament.
There *will* be Archery practice on November 22, however, Archery practices for December, January, and February are cancelled.

FUN OR FRIDAY!

Fun Or Friday will be cancelled in November due to GWW.
Fun Or Friday will be cancelled in December due to Yule.
Weather permitting, Fun Or Fridays will return in January.

The SCA Board of Directors has invited kingdoms and principalities to submit proposals for future experiments exploring alternative Crown Tournament formats, with no new experiments beginning before April 2027. As part of that process, the Board is seeking to better understand the level of interest across the Society in alternative methods of determining the Crown and Heirs. To help inform that decision, the populace of Caid is being asked to share their thoughts! Please see the post linked below to learn more, and complete a short survey!

Dearest Baronial Family -

A new excessive heat warning has been issued for our area.

Because we love you, and your health and well-being is our primary priority - please consider this your "Mom and Dad" reminder -

1) STAY HYDRATED!
Drink plenty of water regularly - don't wait until you're thirsty!!

2) STAY COOL!
Stay in Air-Conditioned Places as Much as possible! If your home is not air conditioned, please reach out to someone in our Baronial Family who has A/C and can welcome you for a visit, or find a cooling center in your area - call 2-1-1 or check your local resources!

Keeping your blinds/shades curtains closed during the day may help reduce indoor heat.

3) IF YOU HAVE TO BE OUTDOORS, DO SO WISELY!
Plan your activities during the cooler temperatures of the morning or late evening if at all possible.
Wear loose, lightweight, light colored clothing and USE SUNSCREEN!!!
If you have to be outside, take frequent breaks and seek shade! Pace yourself and take your time!

4) KNOW THE SYMPTOMS OF HEAT ILLNESS AND SEEK MEDICAL ASSISTANCE WHEN NECESSARY!

5) STAY INFORMED!!
Be sure to check your weather reports for any alerts, watches, etc., as well as Air Quality Indices!

AND

6) CHECK ON ONE ANOTHER!!!!
Call a friend, and make sure they're doing alright! We are -family-!

Good Afternoon, Baronial Family!

Weather prognostications for this Friday, August 21 are indicating extremely high temperatures, with estimates indicating temps ranging from 100 Degrees to the low to mid 90's at the time of our scheduled Fun Or.

Due to this extreme heat, we will be CANCELLING Fun Or Friday, this Friday, August 21!

We will try again on the 3rd Friday of September, September 18!
