The school year is winding down, but the month of May still has wonderful opportunities to SERVE! H2O volunteers visited the Barton Communities Activity Center, helped prepare and serve the monthly community meal with City of Lakewood, Ohio - Department of Human Services, supported the pet food drive hosted by the City of Lakewood, Ohio - Municipal Government's Animal Safety and Welfare Board, and, of course, gardened! High school students are welcome to reach out to [email protected] to receive information about year-round volunteer opportunities.

H2O Summer Service Camp is a core memory for hundreds (thousands!) of people who grew up in Lakewood. If you have a student in seventh, eighth, or ninth next fall, don't miss out on this unique tradition. Campers will have a variety of volunteer experiences and learn from local experts about global issues. Each day will be led by H2O's awesome counselors. One of the sessions is full, but there are still spots available, registration link in the comments.

We took six volunteers to Sew4Service - Lakewood, OH Chapter yesterday, and it was SO much fun! We sorted buttons, folded fat quarters of fabric, and used die cut machines to turn fabric scraps into usable squares for quilting and crafts.

Best of all, we learned about their charitable sewing projects, helped with organizing upcycled materials, and gained creative inspiration. Thank you for hosting our volunteers!

We're so proud of the success and continuity of , which just wrapped up its SIXTEENTH independence and safety course since 2020. Hundreds of Lakewood youth have received safety messaging from H2O's high school leaders, and their parents heard from safety professionals.

We are truly grateful for the incredible community support that this program receives. Families take time from their busy lives to listen, reflect, and plan to set their kids up for safety. Staff from City of Lakewood, Ohio - Department of Human Services support every program and City of Lakewood, Ohio - Municipal Government first responders provide both training for our high school volunteers and for parents. Thank you to Healthy Lakewood Foundation, whose funding enriches the presentations for HOME ALONE.

We had an AMAZING time hosting Breakfast with the Bunny at City of Lakewood, Ohio - Department of Human Services Cove Community Center! We served breakfast to over 300 people; they enjoyed visits with the bunny and had photos printed to take home. As always, the raffle baskets were a HUGE hit, adding $1,079.00 to event proceeds! Thanks to sponsorship from First Federal Lakewood, our wonderful guests, and the small business community in Lakewood and Cleveland, this annual tradition continues to generate funds to support H2O youth programming.

Many thanks to these donors:
Aladdin's Eatery
Angelo's Lakewood (a whole gift basket!)
Beck Center for the Arts
Bee Basic Products
Dewey's Pizza
GV Art & Design
Heirloom Barber & Shave Shop (a whole gift basket!)
The Holden Arboretum
Lakewood, OH Community Recreation & Education Dept.
Lakewood Massotherapy (TWO massages!)
lion and blue (a whole gift basket!)

We're so grateful for your generosity and support!

Thank you to all of the organizers and planners of the Northeast Ohio Youth Climate Summit! We are energized and inspired after a day spent with 500 students from the region, hearing the keynote speaker, Leah Thomas, then browsing the opportunities fair, and attending breakout sessions.
We are SUPER proud that three of our volunteers hosted a breakout session that examined the environmental impacts of fast fashion and textile waste. We are grateful to Aidan Meany from Found Surface for guiding their research; they ran with the information and created an informative and engaging session!

Cove Community Center was bursting with books and fun this evening! Many thanks to all of our guests who made Read Across Lakewood a memorable event. It was a true pleasure to see H2O high school volunteers reading and leading craft activities with young children.
Thank you to City of Lakewood, Ohio - Department of Human Services, Lakewood Family Room, Healthy Lakewood Foundation, Lakewood Public Library, Friends of Lakewood Public Library, and our adult volunteers.

"I appreciated how so many people felt comfortable enough to share the vulnerable memories tied to the songs they shared. It was great being able to hear and feel a little piece of someone's heart with one song, but also being able to laugh and dance together with the next!" - Shontavia, H2O volunteer

It is a simple formula: A community center, music, and a few generations of people gathered to enjoy each other's interests and stories. We even threw in some Chex Mix. There was consensus that we need to host this again, so we hope more people will join us next time!
