DOC Daily Reflection - August 15, 2026

QUOTE: "The more we become willing to depend upon a Higher Power, the more independent we actually are."

Surrender is not weakness; it is a courageous act of letting go. By turning our will over to the care of a Higher Power, we stop fighting a war we cannot win alone. This spiritual pivot requires releasing the illusion of control, trusting that a power greater than ourselves guides our lives better than our own self-will.

Faith grows through daily reliance. In Step Three, fears diminish as we stop trying to manage the universe. By leaning on this strength, we gain the freedom to face life on life’s terms. We discover that true independence is found in the peaceful certainty that we are never walking this recovery path alone.

A huge thank you to the Day One Foundation in Lafayette, Louisiana, for donating this beautiful Rock ’N Recovery guitar to our Lincoln Nova facility. This guitar will be available for our clients to enjoy as they continue their recovery journeys, providing another creative outlet for expression, reflection, and healing.

Principles of Recovery - July 13, 2026

QUOTE: "Peace is not the absence of trouble, but the presence of serenity amidst it."

July 13, 2026. Today, I am reminded that freedom begins the moment I stop fighting reality. For years, I struggled to force life into a shape that satisfied my ego, only to find exhaustion and resentment. True liberation arrived when I surrendered my need for control to a Higher Power, trusting that the universe unfolds exactly as it must. By accepting life on its own terms, I release the heavy burden of "what if" and "should have."

In this state of surrender, I find the humility to see things as they truly are. When I detach from my rigid expectations, I gain the clarity to respond with patience rather than reacting with fear. Today, I embrace the present moment, knowing that my peace depends not on changing the world, but on changing my perspective.

PRINCIPLE FOR TODAY: I accept life as it unfolds, trusting my Higher Power to guide my path.
