Big things are breaking ground in the Columbia Basin!

Join us as the East Columbia Basin Irrigation District celebrates the groundbreaking of the EL 80.6 system on Wednesday, June 10, from 1:00–2:30 pm.

This marks the fourth Odessa Groundwater Replacement Program (OGWRP) system and will bring reliable water service to 5,862 acres—another major step toward securing the future of agriculture in the Columbia Basin.

We look forward to celebrating this important milestone with our partners, growers, and supporters who continue to move this transformational project forward.

Progress is happening across the Odessa Groundwater Replacement Program.

Construction continues on EL 80.6 and EL 84.7 as crews work toward delivering replacement water in 2027 across approximately 13,000 acres.

Additional systems are moving through design now, with more expected to enter design this summer.

This work takes coordination, partnership, and persistence—and every milestone gets us closer to a stronger future for agriculture in Washington.

Encouraging signs for the future.

Preliminary data from EL 47.5 indicates a positive aquifer response following implementation of the Odessa Groundwater Replacement Program.

Projects like OGWRP are about more than water delivery—they’re about protecting groundwater resources, supporting agriculture, and investing in long-term sustainability.

Special thanks to Sasha Richey McLarty, Assistant Professor at Washington State University, for sharing these early results of the OGWRP. View the preliminary results here: https://www.ogwrp-programs.org/post/preliminary-results-on-the-impact-of-ogwrp-implementation

Big wins for Odessa landowners and the future of irrigated agriculture in Washington.

Recent state and federal investments are helping move the Odessa Groundwater Replacement Program (OGWRP) forward:

đź’§ More than $10 million in on-farm cost share funding announced through NRCS and Columbia Basin Conservation District
đź’§ Washington State appropriated an additional $3.2 million during the 2026 legislative session to support remaining delivery system design costs

These investments help producers maintain reliable water supplies, strengthen agricultural viability, and keep working lands productive for future generations.

Thank you to our many partners helping advance this work.

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice made possible the freedoms we live with every day—including the ability to build, grow, and sustain communities like those across the Columbia Basin.

As we reflect, we are reminded that the work we do—advocating for water security, supporting agriculture, and strengthening rural economies—is part of a larger legacy of service, stewardship, and commitment to future generations.

We remember. We honor. We continue the work. đź’§
