Our retiree chapter seeks to unite and mobilize retirees behind common goals, particularly the protection and improvement retiree pensions.

AFSCME retiree chapters serve to unite and mobilize retirees behind common goals, particularly the protection and improvement of their public sector pension and health benefits. With these benefits under increasing attack, public sector retirees must be constantly on the alert for what is often an insensitive political system. We seek to defend the principles of democracy and the rights of all who labor, seek the fulfillment of economic and social justice for all workers - active and retired, and to be a positive force in our communities,

Great intergenerational protest at UW Eau Claire. When an election denier, votes to cut Healthcare, supports corruption of current administration, votes against clean water, is supported by millionaires the list goes on. Those defending Democracy Stand up! Speak up! We were three times larger than the 'audience' in the chairs. NaNaNa NaNaNa good bye- Toxic Tom.

Wisconsin Alliance for Retired Americans joined with legislators in LaCrosse and Eau Claire this week to engage in conversations about AI and Scams. Wisconsin lost about $1.4 billion last year to online scams. A snapshot of Crowley's plan is to put limits on AI companion apps. for kids under 13, tougher penalties for online predators, sextortion, and AI generated sexual images of children.

WEAU is the NBC-affiliated television station for western Wisconsin, owned by Gray Television.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: AFSCME statement on CLARITY Act failing: Working people do not want to see their retirement put into an unregulated crypto casino

WASHINGTON – AFSCME President Patrick Moran released the following statement after the CLARITY Act failed to pass the Senate:

“This is a major victory for retirees and all working people who want to retire with dignity. The so-called CLARITY Act would have allowed Wall Street to gamble with workers’ pensions and 401(k)s by making it easier to invest their retirement savings in cryptocurrency. Working people do not want to see their hard-earned money put into an unregulated, unpredictable crypto casino. We thank the senators who saw through this corrupt con job and voted down this bill. During a time of so much financial uncertainty, we urge Congress to stay focused on bringing down costs and helping working families save for retirement – things they need. AFSCME members will continue to fight to ensure our retirement security won’t be threatened by crypto grifters.”
