Dear Friends of Rainbow Friends Animal Sanctuary,
We have received a $5000 matching funds donation to help with the completion of vital repairs and upgrades to 10 catteries and 4 dog enclosures on our property. These improvements will ensure much-needed safe, clean housing for our animals.
Rainbow Friends Animal Sanctuary is kindly asking you to match these funds with your donation, to bring a total of $ 10,000 to this project. These much needed and appreciated matching fund donations will allow us to complete renovations to address deteriorating conditions in our sub-tropical climate home. The project will focus on overhauling all 10 catteries and 4 of the 6 dog enclosures (the remaining two are still in good condition).
Secure fencing and reinforced structures will reduce the risk of injury from damaged materials and prevent escapes that could place animals in danger.
The catteries, each 12 x 24 feet in size, feature indoor sleeping quarters, and attached roofed garden enclosures, where the cats can safely play and socialize. Repairs will include repainting interior and exterior surfaces, replacing worn shelving, resealing and replacing roofs and rewiring all windows with new 2 x 4 welded fencing, to prevent injury and escape. Two catteries are nearly completed, providing us a feasible model for this project.
The dog enclosures will undergo extensive repairs, including new fencing, gates, and repair and repainting of the houses. These enclosures house 2-3 dogs each, many of whom arrive frightened, injured, or neglected. Providing safe, sturdy and clean enclosures is critical for their recovery and eventual adoption.
To keep costs low and strengthen community engagement, we are involving local volunteers, including school groups, families and existing community partners. Please let us know if you or your organization would like to be included.
This renovation is not just about infrastructure; it's about impact! Once complete, these upgrades will restore and improve shelter for our animals and enable us to maintain the peaceful and loving standards that are core to our mission. By extending the lifespan and functionality of our facilities, this project will allow us to provide life-saving services for our animals in the Sanctuary including medical care, rehabilitation and adoption across the Island of Hawaii.
Last month, on April 27th, Doctor Foster and her talented team from Aloha Animal Alliance visited Rainbow Friends Animal Sanctuary and gave 40 of our dogs a physical exam, updated vaccines, updated heartworm tests and de-worming along with individualized care. We are so grateful to the team! The day was wonderful, productive and a very much appreciated gift to us all. We are looking forward to a future clinic for our cats.
The contribution you're making by supporting and donating to our projects here at Rainbow Friends Animal Sanctuary is life changing for Hawaii Island's animals.
