Checking in on everyone and their roads after all this rain. As most of our reliable supporters have already made their yearly contribution to HARC, this is a call out to the rest to show your support of the roads by paying the $88 road maintenance fee today!
As we gain more supporters of HARC, the roads will become more drivable, emergency response times will decrease....and we may even be able to hire the heavy equipment needed to do whats necessary for some areas.
Without the support, our roads will become a fend for yourself situation and the cost will be much higher for everyone.
You dont need to be a lot owner to donate!
Every dollar counts!, visit www.harc4u.com for paypal link, or send a check to HARC, po 1261, Kurtistown, HI 96760

Attention Hawaiian Acres Residents,

During our board meeting on Saturday Feb 21, 2026, Hawaiian Acres Volunteer Fire Captain Abrham Antonio highlighted a critical change in Hawaii Fire Department (HFD) policy that directly affects our neighborhood's safety.

Recent policy changes have significantly reduced the dispatching of our local Volunteer Fire units. Volunteers are now being restricted to "support" roles outside of active fire zones. This has already resulted in local fires where our neighborhood volunteers were not dispatched at all, despite often being the closest and fastest units available to respond.

As a rural community, our volunteers are frequently the first on the scene. Delays in dispatching local units can lead to increased property damage and higher risks to life.

The Fire Commission is currently in the process of appointing the next Fire Chief. We need a Fire Chief who keeps our safety a top priority. We are urging all residents to contact our local Fire Commissioner to express your concerns and demand that the best interests of volunteer-supported communities be prioritized.

Contact Fire Commissioner for District 5 Email: [email protected]
Include the secretary of the Fire Commission to be sure it is part of the public record: [email protected]
Mayor's Office: (808) 961-8211 [email protected]

Because our communities safety is our biggest priority, HARC will be sending this letter showing our concerns and support for the hero's of our community we rely on to be there first.

If you would like us to add your name to our letter, simply respond or message with your full name. This is where our voice does count for our community.
If your not a Hawaiian Acres resident we encourage you to send the letters on behalf of your local communities volunteer fire fighters. (Your even welcome to copy ours :))

So much rain, our roads are drowning ๐Ÿฅบ, so is HARC.

HARCs #1 goal for 26+ years now has been to maintain Hawaiian Acres roads.

Just like any other private subdivision, the funds necessary to achieve that comes from the lot owners themselves.

If your one of the people that does pay your share, please tell us the reason that motivates you the most?

If your one of the people who doesn't, please share what would inspire you to pay?

This year we hope to gain the support necessary to succeed at maintaining our roads so at bare minimum the emergency services can reach you in time ๐Ÿ™โค๏ธ

The reason HARC is currently drowning along with our roads is not because $88 isn't enough. It's because not enough people have paid into HARC.
95% of lot owners have yet to pay their dues this year.๐Ÿ˜“ Hard to run any business without customers

Happy โค๏ธ day. After all this hard rain our roads are even more in need of some love.
Please post pics of spots of your road that got hit hard by this storm and need need some special attention... include location with pic.

Here's what was happening at the C9 intersection last weekend. This is possibly the worst flood zone in Hawaiian acres and gonna need a lot more than love to remedy ๐ŸŒบ
HARC wants to know where these concerns are so we can address them in our road plan๐Ÿ™

Grateful for the rain โ˜” filling our tanks, watering our trees and undusting our roads ๐Ÿ™
For those who have seen the red gravel recently used (mostly 1 road) please note this is NOT red cinder. It's just a red vein they hit at the quarry about 6 months ago and is the 2.5" based course. It's still blue rock, just has some red silt and also happens to pack down really well.โ˜บ๏ธ

Thank you to everyone who paid their fees so far this year๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿช™ and volunteered the hands on labor ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿช required to give us all a little more comfortable ride home. ๐Ÿ™๐ŸŒบ
๐Ÿ’ฏ Gratitude

If anyone is wanting to fill big pot holes on their neglected numbered road, this 2.5" basecourse from puna rock is highly recommended and seems to have better longevity than the straight blue rock.

HARC is always happy to help huis however we can to keep their numbered roads maintained too, even if it's just putting them in touch with the right neighbors to work together.

As more people pay into Harc the closer we will get to maintaining roads 2-11, or atleast offer the matching funds we did in the past. ๐Ÿ™
Till then, stay safe and bring a life vest if necessary๐ŸŒ€ ๐Ÿ’ฆ

Big shout out to all the people in our community who go above and beyond to help keep our roads a little more drivable.
Whether it's with their machines, shoveling rocks into potholes, donating $ well beyond the $88, being a road rep, being a board member (huge) or simply paying the annual fee, ...it all helps!
Please be sure to show your respect to the neighbor you see out there on the road as you drive by...it's all ๐Ÿ’ฏ volunteer efforts๐Ÿ’ช gratitude costs nothing and is worth everything โค๏ธ

HARC is sad to lose Margie as Treasurer from the board. Margie is one of the hardest working volunteers the board has had and she will be sorely missed. HARC thanks Margie for her years of service to our board.

HARC is excited for a new start, with new directors bringing on new ideas. We look forward to hearing from our neighborhood at our monthly board meeting.

Mandatory road dues are a hot topic that brings lots of opinions. Bringing this to the forefront
and hoping to implement into our subdivision is rapidly becoming a top priority. Our roads are failing and need help.
