🫱🏼‍🫲🏾 How Can I Help?: Becoming a Compassionate Grief Companion Workshop

Hosted by Hope Floats’ Heather Gray, LCSW

Wednesday, July 22, 2026 from 6 - 8 PM

Mark your calendars! We are excited to be offering our 'How Can I Help?: Becoming a Compassionate Grief Companion' Workshop again this summer.

Often when someone we know and care about experiences a loss it can be challenging to know how to offer support. This workshop will focus on providing helpful tools, strategies, and information to anyone looking to learn how to better support those navigating grief due to the death of a loved one. Drawing from evidence-based practices as well as personal testimonies, participants will gain valuable insight into the unique challenges and needs accompanying the death of a loved one and how best to provide help in a way that transcends the isolation often felt by those managing grief and loss.

Pre-registration is required.

Summer Camp is coming up! 🎨
Every Tuesday in July from 5:30-7:00 PM ☀️

During Summer Camp, children and teens have the opportunity to participate in expressive arts and crafts activities designed to help process grief and loss, while connecting with peers who are also navigating the loss of a loved one.

While children participate in their groups, parenting adults are invited to join a peer-facilitated support group for those who have experienced the loss of a partner or spouse.

We are also excited to offer a dedicated Resource Room for grandparents and senior caregivers who are raising (or are highly involved in raising) a grieving grandchild. This space will provide helpful materials, local support resources, and an opportunity to connect with others in similar caregiving roles and find community. We warmly encourage caregivers to take advantage of this space while their child or grandchild attends camp.

🍃 A Journey Through the Elements: A Sound Healing & Reiki Experience

Hosted by Tara McCarthy & Robyn Linscott at Hope Floats Healing & Wellness Center

🗓️ Friday, July 10, 2026 from 6-7:15 PM. $44.

Come settle into a space where you can just slow down for a bit. This session blends Reiki with sound healing. Crystal bowls, chimes, and grounding tones, to help you feel more balanced and at ease. We will weave the elements in, earth to help you feel grounded, water to keep things flowing, fire (not live fire) for a little transformation, and air to lift and lighten things up. Nothing complicated, just gentle support for whatever you’re carrying.

Registration is required.

A Gathering for Those Living with Loss with Gary Sturgis 💜

This isn’t a workshop or a structured support group. Instead, this gathering offers a quiet, welcoming space for those who are living with loss to come together, without expectation, pressure, or agenda.

Grief doesn’t follow a timeline, and there’s no “right way” to move through it. For many, what’s needed most isn’t instruction, but simply a place to be, to sit among others who understand, in whatever way feels right that day.

During this time together, Gary will gently host the space, offering light guidance if needed.

There may be moments of conversation, reflection, or simply quiet presence.

Attendees are welcome to share, to listen, or to remain silent.

There will also be space for those who wish to ask questions or share concerns about their own grief journey, in a supportive and understanding setting.

All are welcome, wherever they are in their grief.

This is an in-person gathering, created to offer a sense of connection, understanding, and a moment of not feeling so alone.

“After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago.

Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Ever the detective, Marcellus deduces what happened the night Tova’s son disappeared. And now Marcellus must use every trick his old invertebrate body can muster to unearth the truth for her before it’s too late.

Shelby Van Pelt’s debut novel is a gentle reminder that sometimes taking a hard look at the past can help uncover a future that once felt impossible.”
