Today, RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) representatives spoke at Golden K. RSVP is a program of DICSA and information was provided on the many volunteer opportunities available for seniors through their organization. Interested individuals can contact them at (906)774-2256 to learn more. Pictured are Golden K Chairperson Judy Sielaff, RSVP Assistant Director Kendra Trulock and RSVP Director Susan Lucas.

Golden K will not meet until Monday, September 14. Members are reminded of our Peanut Fundraiser on Friday, September 4. Volunteers are needed to sit at area businesses on that day. Golden K thanks the community for their continued support.

Golden K will conduct their annual Peanut Fund Drive on Friday, September 4. Volunteers will be located at Super One, Walmart, Northwoods IGA, and Pat’s Foods. This is the only fundraiser the Club has and we appreciate the community’s support so we can continue to host parties for special need’s children, award scholarships, host bingo at area nursing homes, and support other non-profit organizations in our area.

Renee Strom from Senior Crafting Connections spoke at today’s Golden K meeting. Strom’s high-school daughter started a non-profit which connects students with seniors through crafting projects. The student volunteers visit area nursing homes and assisted living centers where they do crafts with the residents. Strom is pictured with Kathy Jo Anderson, Golden K chairperson.

The Golden K attended their annual member picnic on Monday, hosted by the Imagination Factory. They were greeted by Barb Reisner, Executive Director and given a tour of the newly opened 13,000 square foot children’s museum; followed by a lunch prepared by Phil Zollner in the museum’s cafeteria.
