🚘 Tip Tuesday! ☀️

On hot days, car seats and buckles can heat up fast — even if the windows are cracked. Metal and plastic parts can reach temperatures high enough to burn your child’s skin in just minutes.

Keep little riders safe:
• Always check buckles and straps with your hand before buckling your child in.
• Cover the seat with a light blanket or towel when not in use.
• Park in the shade whenever possible.
• Let the car cool down before loading kids.

A quick touch test can prevent a painful burn — safety isn’t just about the ride, it’s about every moment your child is in the car. 🫶🏻

🚗 Rear-Facing: Why It Matters

Did you know rear-facing for as long as possible is Best Practice?

Keep your child rear-facing as long as possible — ideally until they reach the max height or weight listed on their car seat’s label (often age 2–4, depending on the seat!). If ever involved in a crash, being rear-facing, allows your child’s car seat to absorb and spread out the force from the impact. This protects their head, neck, and spine/back. Worried about their legs that are touching the seat back, criss-cross applesauce, or dangling over the sides? Lower extremity injuries while rear-facing are rare!! Let’s keep our Little Riders safe!

✅ Check your manual
✅ Look for head height limits
✅ Send me a message if you’re not sure!

🚨EXCITING NEWS🚨

I am officially a CERTIFIED CPST!!! I am so so excited for this new chapter and couldn’t be happier. Coming into this, I thought why would we possibly need FOUR days of training? However, after going through it all, this class could easily take 5+ days. There is so much to learn and continue learning every single day. I am so thankful for my instructors who were truly amazing and answered every single question I had. My classmates were also amazing and everyone was super supportive of each other along the way. I am so proud of all of them and myself. We pushed through and worked so hard💪🏻 I am looking forward to what the future holds, stay tuned🫣

Let’s talk car seat and vehicle recalls.

Did you know that between Safety 1st, Graco, and Go Sprint, nearly 180,000 car seats have already been recalled in 2025? That’s only some seats / brands. And we’re only eight months in. Now think about how many vehicle recalls may have quietly happened in that same timeframe.

Here’s the important part - how do you know if a recall affects you? Are there some you might not even be aware of?

Here’s what you need to know and what you can do:

Check for Recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has both a website and an app where you can look up recalls for your vehicle, car seats, tires, and more.
• Website: https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls
• App: SaferCar (available in the App Store and Google Play)

Register Your Car Seats
You know those little cards that come with your car seats, asking you to fill them out and mail them in? Yeah, mine are in the garbage too.

Those cards are how manufacturers notify you directly about recalls - without the marketing / junk mail.

If you still have one, fill it out and send it in.
If not, no worries. You can register your seat online through the manufacturer’s website or email them using the information found on the seat’s label or in the manual.

If you’re not sure where to start or need help with this step, feel free to reach out to either myself or Little Riders, Big Safety - IM/K. We’re happy to assist however we can.

🚗 Car Seat Tip of the Week! 👶

👉 The Chest Clip Check

The chest clip on a harnessed car seat should always sit at armpit level — not down near the belly. Why? Because in a crash, this helps keep the harness straps in the right place to protect your child’s chest and shoulders.

✅ Quick check:
• Clip is even with the armpits
• Straps are flat and snug (you shouldn’t be able to pinch any slack at the shoulders)

This simple adjustment can make a big difference in a crash. 💪

Have questions about your seat setup? Drop a comment or send me a message — I’m always happy to help!
