Our volunteer team takes the time to listen, review, and verify each situation - often including site visits and documentation to ensure our support is going where it is needed the most in our communities.

Every dollar donated, every item given and every hour volunteered makes a real difference right here in Northumberland and Lancaster counties.

Behind every service we provide is a responsibility to do it well.

Before assistance is approved, each request goes through a careful review process. This includes confirming residency in the counties we serve, completing an application, and verifying basic information such as identification, address, and income. Every step exists for a reason — to ensure help is distributed fairly, responsibly, and to those who truly qualify.

This process protects the integrity of our programs, honors the trust of our donors and volunteers, and ensures resources remain available for neighbors who need them most — today and in the future.

If you or someone you know may need assistance, details about eligibility and how to apply can be found at interfaithservicecouncil.org/help.

Each year, our warehouse serves approximately 400–600 families and individuals living in Northumberland and Lancaster counties. Neighbors who qualify for assistance are able to “shop” the warehouse — selecting furniture, household goods, and essential items their families truly need.

This space exists because our community shows up on both sides of the door. Donated items help turn empty rooms into livable homes, and volunteers help ensure every visit is met with care and respect.

If you have gently used household items to donate, or if you or someone you know may need assistance, our warehouse is here to help.

This is how community support becomes stability — one home, one family at a time. 💛

Every visit to our warehouse starts with a volunteer who chose to show up.

When neighbors come to our warehouse for assistance, they’re often met by volunteers giving a few hours of their time — helping families move through the space, organizing donated items, and making sure people leave with what they need.

It’s not flashy work. But it’s meaningful. And it’s only possible because people choose to serve their community in simple, powerful ways.

Our volunteers are the heart of this work.
If you’ve ever wondered how you could help — this is a great place to start.

Neighbors helping neighbors — that’s what we actually do every day. 💛

At Interfaith Service Council we’re not about one type of help — we’re about meeting real needs where they are. Our services include:

🔹 Ramps & Repairs — building wheelchair ramps, steps, handrails, roof fixes, and essential home repairs so people can move safely and stay in their homes.
🔹 Financial Assistance — helping families with urgent needs like utility bills, housing, rent/mortgage, medical expenses, and more.
🔹 Household Goods & Essentials — our warehouse collects donated furniture and household items to provide dignity, comfort, and basic needs to neighbors facing hardship.

Whether it’s restoring safe access, easing an emergency burden, or filling a home with needed essentials, this work is about keeping families stable, safe, and supported — regardless of background or circumstance.

That’s our mission. That’s your community in action.

The work you’ve seen around our community is made possible because people choose to give.

Ramps built. Homes repaired. Safe access restored — not someday, but when it matters most. In winter conditions like we’ve experienced recently, these projects help ensure our most vulnerable neighbors can remain safe in their homes.

Beginning in 2026, Interfaith Service Council is committing 100% of donated funds directly to community service projects. Our organizational costs are covered separately, allowing every donation to go further where it’s needed most.

If you believe in practical help, proactive care, and showing up for one another, we invite you to make the pledge and support our work in Lancaster and Northumberland counties.

Even in the coldest of times, our Ramp & Repair crew show up across the counties we serve, tackling everything from ramps and landings to plumbing and roof repairs. Different homes. Different needs. Same goal: making life safer, more accessible, and more secure for our neighbors.

In November, our team of volunteers completed the following projects:

🔸 Removed and replaced a landing with steps in Weems
🔸 Built three ramps, totaling 88 feet in length, in White Stone, Ditchley and Mollusk
🔸 Completed a roof and ceiling repair in White Stone
🔸 Minor plumbing repair in Mollusk

With the recent winter storm and extreme cold in our area, these kinds of repairs become even more critical. Safe access, stable structures, and reliable systems can mean the difference between staying home safely and facing real risk — especially for our most vulnerable neighbors.

This is why what we do, matters. And it happens because volunteers give their time, donors give their support, and a community chooses to take care of its own.
