It’s Moving Day at RFA!

The excitement is building as RFA prepares for Opening Night in our new home! Members of the RFA Board have been busy moving boxes, supplies, equipment and plenty of odds and ends from Lancaster Elementary School to our beautiful new Lancaster High School Performing Arts Center.

It’s a big move and an exciting new chapter for RFA. A special thank you to everyone who rolled up their sleeves and helped get us settled and ready for our first performance.

Meet Violinist Simone Porter!

Acclaimed violinist Simone Porter has performed with some of the world’s great orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra and Los Angeles Philharmonic. A recipient of the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, she is celebrated for her extraordinary artistry, energy and expressive performances.

And now, you can experience her right here in the Northern Neck!

Simone Porter will perform with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra for RFA’s Opening Night at our first concert of the season in the beautiful new Lancaster High School Auditorium & Performing Arts Center.

RFA Lighting Technician Luke Rawls is working with the lighting design team to become fully acquainted with the new auditorium’s state-of-the-art lighting and production system. With Luke’s experience and creative eye, we’re excited to see our new stage come to life!

Dolly Parton’s music, warmth and unmistakable spirit have touched generations, including so many of us right here in the Northern Neck. Her songs have been part of our lives, bringing back memories, lifting our spirits and reminding us how music can connect people and communities.
At RFA, we believe deeply in that same power of the performing arts to bring people together, create shared experiences and inspire young people to discover a lifelong love of music and the arts.

The Countdown Is On, Our Spectacular New Venue Is Almost Ready!

Thanks to the Rappahannock Record for sharing what we do 😊

On March 12, 685 students from Lancaster Elementary School and Chesapeake Academy attended a musical tale of friendship based on the works of Dr. Seuss, told by the Cat in the Hat in a 60-minute format.

The show was adapted from the Grammy-nominated Broadway musical “Seussical,” written by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens. The performance was brought to Kilmarnock as part of the Arts for Youth Program of the Rappahannock Foundation for the Arts (RFA).
