On March 12, 685 students from Lancaster Elementary School and Chesapeake Academy attended a musical tale of friendship based on the works of Dr. Seuss, told by the Cat in the Hat in a 60-minute format.

The show was adapted from the Grammy-nominated Broadway musical “Seussical,” written by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens. The performance was brought to Kilmarnock as part of the Arts for Youth Program of the Rappahannock Foundation for the Arts (RFA).

Lancaster Elementary students in Kilmarnock loved Uncle Ty-Rone Travis, a multi-talented artist passionate about inspiring students! This clip is from his September 25, 2025, performance.

The RFA Arts for Youth initiative is a cornerstone of the nonprofit’s mission, organizing special events to spark students’ interest in the performing arts. Ty-Rone Travis performed twice: once for PreK–3rd grade and again for 4th–7th grade students.
