A huge THANK YOU to Knox Equipment Rentals for helping remove the roof from the historic Settling Basin at the WaterWorks complex in Anson B. Nixon Park!

This important milestone marks just the beginning of exciting future improvements as we work to Revive, Refresh, and Renew this historic community asset for generations to come.

The Settling Basin was originally part of Kennett Square’s early 1900s waterworks system, helping provide clean, reliable water to the growing community for decades. Today, we honor that legacy while investing in the future of the Park and the WaterWorks revitalization project.

We are incredibly grateful for community partners like Knox Equipment Rentals who are helping bring this vision to life.

Recently, we’ve experienced a couple of unfortunate incidents involving birds becoming entangled in discarded fishing line. With the help of Tri State Bird Rescue, a Canada goose was safely assisted—but these situations are preventable.
This type of incident is unacceptable, and we are committed to doing more to keep fishing line and waste out of harm’s way—for our wildlife, our visitors, and our environment.
We know that the vast majority of our park guests do the right thing, and we truly appreciate your efforts. Our staff and volunteers work hard year-round to keep the Park clean, safe, and beautiful—and we’re asking for your continued partnership.
✔ Clearly marked fishing line and hook disposal stations are located around the ponds
✔ Increased litter patrols will be in place during this busy season
✔ New, attractive, animal-proof trash receptacles are being installed
We kindly ask all visitors to:
✔ Dispose of fishing line and trash responsibly
✔ Use designated disposal stations
✔ Pick up stray litter when you see it
Together, we can protect our wildlife, preserve our environment, and keep the Park a safe and welcoming place for all.
Thank you for being stewards of this special place.

Mr. Waite's AP Psychology students from Kennett High School enjoyed a day learning about the mental health benefits of being in nature. Yoga, garden therapy, forest bathing, and hours disconnected from phones made for a great day together!
