Welcome to The Francis Hotel & Suites!

What a joy to launch The Francis Hotel & Suites and welcome our community to explore it! Thank you to all the elected officials, neighbors, friends, and family who came out to support our team this week as we opened the doors to Kennett Square's newest boutique hotel!

Each of the 8 rooms tells a unique part of Kennett history, from the Revolutionary War to the Underground Railroad to the heritage of horticulture. As Square Roots Collective Co-CEO Stephanie Almanza shared in her opening remarks, "The story of Kennett isn't just one story. It's many stories. And we're writing the story of our thriving community together."

Just like our other business ventures, 100% of the profits from The Francis will be reinvested to enable positive social initiatives in our community! When you book at room here or at , or you get a drink at the , you help house a family through , make nature more accessible through , support research and storytelling through , and so much more.

Restoring this historic building and creating a space for people to enjoy Kennett Square, experience history, and make memories has been a real labor of love for our SRC team. We hope you and your visitors love it, too!

It's a privilege for the SRC team to work alongside Mike Bontrager toward his vision of a local community where everyone can thrive. Thanks to Joseph N. DiStefano for visiting our office and learning more about what drives this work.

The community steering committee consisting of Kennett Square residents and representatives from Square Roots Collective, Borough of Kennett Square, Kennett Collaborative, and Casa Guanajuato Kennett Square is in the process of reviewing the ideas and building a ballot for a community vote.

Stay tuned for your chance to vote in 2026! Each voter will have the opportunity to indicate their preferences on how to allocate the $100,000 to support the projects they care about.
