OPENING 2026: A community-owned (co-op) grocery store in Kennett Square, PA that offers quality local food from Chester County-area farmers/producers.

By shopping local, your grocery dollars strengthen your local economy, not a big corporation. KCG will be a member-owned, one-stop grocery store/community space providing Kennett Square with nutritious and delicious food, create living-wage jobs, and provide access to healthful nutrition education. We have a clear mission, passionate Member-Owners, and overwhelming community support to open a food co-op for all residents which can build and sustain the power of "local."

✨ Meet Greenhaus Glass!

Nancy Lappenbusch is a Kennett Square artist who makes handmade glass boxes, dishes, jewelry, sun catchers and beautiful glowing display pieces. I got to visit Nancy at her home studio over the summer, and her work is SO fun and pretty! She makes everything herself using art glass from Portland, Oregon.

Nancy is a devoted maker who is always creating. You can tell she genuinely loves what she does! She also has a really cute studio mate named Nugget, who charmed me during my visit. 🐶 (pictured)

Nancy has been a KCG member-owner since moving to Kennett Square in 2020. She joined right away because she’d experienced firsthand how a food co-op can bring a community together in the small town where she previously lived in North Carolina. Now she’s excited to be part of that same spirit here at KCG.

We’re so happy to have Greenhaus Glass joining us! I can’t wait for you to see Nancy’s beautiful work when we open this fall.

Kennett Brewfest was bumpin’ this weekend! 🍺

Brewfest brings together regional breweries, food vendors, and people who enjoy discovering what’s being made right here in our area. It’s a chance to try something new, meet the people behind the products, and appreciate just how much our local food and beverage scene has to offer.

I was there helping out at the Succession Fermentory table, and it was great to see so many people out enjoying the festival! Succession was also a stop on our KCG farm tour a few weeks ago, so it was fun to share more about what they do. Our neighbors were Two Stones Pub, another hyperlocal business, and their table was a hot spot all day!

If you couldn’t make it this year and enjoy local b**r, c***r, and food, definitely come out next year! Many tables also had delicious non-alcoholic options.

Did I ever tell you guys I went to Argus Farm Stop in March?!

I took a trip to Ann Arbor, Michigan, to visit Argus, and I’d like to share these photos from my visit!

Argus is the farm stop that inspired the model we’re building at Kennett Community Grocer. They’ve created a grocery store that connects shoppers directly with local farmers and food producers, using a consignment model that puts the producers first.

Getting to see their stores in person, learn more about how they operate, and see the community they’ve built was such an incredible and valuable experience. They’ve been doing this for over a decade, and their success has been encouraging as we work toward opening KCG.

We’re building something of our own here in Kennett Square, shaped by our community and the incredible producers in our region. But it’s pretty great to know there are other places out there showing what’s possible with this kind of model.

So, what does LOCAL mean?

At KCG, we’re building a grocery store around the farmers, food producers, bakers, makers, and other local businesses that make our region special.

That means prioritizing products from our region, bringing together a whole lot of variety, and helping you discover producers you might not have known about otherwise.

Not everything can be sourced right around the corner, and that’s okay. We’re intentional about what we carry and where it comes from.

That’s local at KCG. 🌱

We’re getting closer to opening this fall, and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve been putting together!

☕️ Happy National Coffee Day!

Today we’re celebrating two local coffee roasters we’re really excited to have at KCG: House of Plenty Coffee and Creekside Coffee Roasting Co.

House of Plenty, based in the Wilmington area and owned by Bre Forgione, specializes in USDA-Certified Organic, single-origin coffee that’s mold-free and naturally low-acidity.

Creekside Coffee Roasting Co. is a Chester County roastery in Landenberg, PA, where they hand-roast ethically sourced coffee in small batches.

This fall, you’ll be able to buy their coffee at Kennett Community Grocer AND we’ll have a self-serve coffee counter in our café space, with local roasters featured on rotation.

Stop in, grab a coffee, pastry, snack, or even a meal and hang out for a bit. We’re pretty excited to see you there.

Meet Mia of Paper Intentions 💌

We’re so excited to welcome Mia Lucero of Paper Intentions to Kennett Community Grocer!

Mia creates handmade greeting cards with a simple idea at the heart of her work: in a digital world, there’s still something really special about receiving something tangible, personal, and made by hand.

Her love of paper crafting began with scrapbooking in the late ’90s and eventually led her to making handmade cards for Operation Write Home, an organization that sent handmade cards to military members stationed overseas so they could write personal messages to their families.

Today, Mia continues that tradition of creating something meant to be held, felt, displayed, and cherished. ❤️

Paper Intentions is all about thoughtful creations made for you, with space for your own words and intentions to make each card personal to the person receiving it.

We can’t wait for you to discover Mia’s beautiful work at KCG this fall!
