Training today simulated searching in no visibility water. The divers used a shop dolly , a black-out mask and different colored chalk for each diver. Two used a parallel search while the third used an arc. The results shown were based upon how much rope the line tender supplied to the diver. It was very interesting indeed!

The Dive Rescue Team had a great time helping at the Cardboard Boat Regatta at Lake Sacajawea. We love this event. The raft and the kayaks get a good work out and the guys love being on the water. Thank you KUKN for always letting us join you in the fun!

We have a fabulous, caring group of people who volunteer with Cowlitz County Dive Rescue. We would LOVE to meet you and your family, but not dressed as they are in this photo.

Please remember that, even though we are in a hot spell, our local rivers aren't anywhere near warm temperatures. The water sources are glaciers. A simple leg cramp from the temperature change can cause a drowning.

Please wear life jackets, everyone. Your children need to be safe and they need you in their life.

CCDR started the day early yesterday. It's a hot spell and it was good to get out if the drysuits earlier in the day. Training was with the Cowlitz County Sheriff's Department at Horseshoe Lake. The lake was really busy yesterday! Training went very well.

Cowlitz County Dive Rescue was pleased to be able to assist the Cowltz County Sheriff's Department, Kelso Police Department and Carl's Towing with a hook and tow on a car that was found in the Cowlitz River this morning.

The current was very swift so no diver was put in water to perform the hook up. They hooked it up using an alternative method.

There's hot weather coming tomorrow, so remember:
Our rivers are always very cold.
Wear a life jacket when you are in the water.
Don't let children swim unsupervised.
Our rivers have very dangerous undertows and eddies.

Our team members would love to meet you, but without a crisis

We had a great training called Stop the Bleed this morning. Many thanks to our EMT/Deputy for all of the information. Having the new tools with water simulating blood flow to practice with was perfect.

Training today was at Gaither Pool again. What an awesome opportunity for us to train there in the winter months!! We had some deputies join us for throwbag practice. As well as throwbags, our team practiced flipping our new Rescue raft...and it took alot of effort!!! This raft is a beauty!!

Videos of the flipping will be in Comments.
