Sherod Don Nichols continues to help kids Fighting NF and Childhood Cancer. Sherod may no longer be here with us on earth but he is in spirit. Those who knew him would say he was funny, a prankster and raw..... very raw. His was taken from us at the age of 16. He fought NF-1 for most of his life. From the time he was diagnosed at 3 months old until he passed he had over 30 surgeries performed on him. He had multiple surgeries on his back to try and debunk some of his NF tumors to having rods and pins to put his femur 🦴 back together. He’s had eye surgery, ankle surgeries, surgery to have his port placed. At age 14 just 1 month before he was to turn 15 we found out he had a rare cancer. On his 15th birthday he went in for his first round of chemo and was in hospital for 7 days. He did this same routine from Sept of 08 to Feb of 09. That’s when they told us they couldn’t do anymore for him.
His 16th birthday was celebrated with a Roaring 20’s party. He asked all his friends to bring unwrapped gifts so he could donate them to the Children’s Cancer Association in Portland Or.
3 months later on Dec 29, 2009 Sherod whispered his last I love you to his mom & family.
This foundation was put together by Sherod Don Nichols and his family and friends. Prior to his passing he asked his mom is she could put his life insurance money into the Foundation so that he could continue to help those who were fighting just like him.
Since then I along with my family and friends have helped raise money to do just that.
