Brethren,
It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Brother Duane Rexford on October 5, 2026.
As we mourn the loss of a Brother, we should also pause to celebrate a Masonic life that spanned more than 46 years and included extraordinary service to both Castle Rock Lodge No. 62 and Kelso Lodge No. 94.
Brother Rexford's Masonic journey began in September 1980 when he petitioned Kelso Lodge No. 94. He was initiated as an Entered Apprentice on October 21, 1980, passed to the Fellow Craft Degree on April 14, 1981, and raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on September 15, 1981. He completed his Master Mason proficiency in February 1982.
In 1996, Brother Rexford became a multiple member of Castle Rock Lodge No. 62, beginning another important chapter in his Masonic service.
At Castle Rock No. 62, Brother Rexford served as Worshipful Master in 1997 and 1998. He continued serving his Lodge as Treasurer in 1999 and 2000, Junior Warden in 2001, Senior Warden in 2002 and 2004, and Senior Deacon in 2003.
His dedication to Castle Rock No. 62 was unmistakable. He repeatedly accepted the responsibility of leadership and gave his time and talents to the work of his Lodge.
Brother Rexford also continued his Masonic service at Kelso Lodge No. 94. There, he served as Treasurer, Senior Deacon, Junior Warden, Senior Warden, Worshipful Master, and Junior Deacon.
He served as Worshipful Master of Kelso No. 94 in 2011–2012 and again in 2014–2015. He later served as Junior Deacon from 2017 through 2022, followed by service as Junior Warden and Senior Warden.
Across his Masonic career, Brother Rexford served in virtually every station of the Lodge and served as Worshipful Master four times between the two Lodges.
That record tells us something important about Brother Rexford: he was a Mason who answered the call to serve.
For more than four decades, when his Lodge needed someone to fill a chair, accept responsibility, or help guide his Brethren, Brother Rexford stepped forward. His service was not limited to a single year or a single office. It was a recurring commitment to the institution he had chosen to join and to the Brothers with whom he shared the Craft.
The number of offices he held is impressive, but perhaps more important is what those years represent.
Masonry is built through service; one meeting, one degree, one Brother, and one obligation at a time. Brother Rexford spent more than 46 years doing exactly that.
Today, we remember not merely the offices he held, but the Brother who filled them.
We remember a Mason who spent decades in the quarries.
We remember a Brother who repeatedly accepted the responsibility of leadership.
We remember a man whose Masonic journey touched two Lodges and whose service became part of their histories.
As we mourn his passing, let us also give thanks for the many years Brother Duane Rexford gave to our fraternity. His name is now part of the history of Kelso Lodge No. 94 and Castle Rock Lodge No. 62, and the record of his service stands as a testament to a life dedicated to Freemasonry.
May we keep Brother Rexford's family, friends, and Brothers in our thoughts and prayers during this time of loss.
His labors in our earthly Lodge are complete. May he now find rest from his labors, and may the memory of his service continue to inspire those of us who remain.
Per our Brother's request, there will not be a service conducted. Instead we will have our normal in lodge memorial for him on our Oct 13, 2026 Stated Meeting.
