Harbor House recently welcomed members of the Kankakee-Iroquois-Ford Association of REALTORS® for a tour of our facility and an opportunity to learn more about our services for survivors of domestic violence.

Realtors understand the importance of helping individuals and families find stability, security, and a place to call home. At Harbor House, we share that commitment by helping survivors move from crisis toward safety and long-term stability through advocacy, shelter, supportive services, and community connection.

We appreciate their time, engagement, and commitment to learning more about the role Harbor House plays in supporting survivors and strengthening our community.

REALTOR® Tip Tuesday

Summer is peak moving season, and for many families, it’s the ideal time to make a move before a new school year begins. While relocating can feel overwhelming, a little planning and organization can go a long way toward making the transition smoother and less stressful.

A successful move isn’t just about getting from one home to another, it’s about helping your family settle into the next chapter with confidence. 🏡

Today KIFAR attended the Kankakee County Economic Alliance meeting hosted at AHF Products Manufacturing.

We learned that AHF’s Kankakee facility is the largest vinyl tile manufacturing plant in the world and a leader in commercial hard surface flooring. We also heard about the incredible impact transportation and logistics have on our local economy, with more than 1,000 jobs in the industry right here in Kankakee County and over 40,000 vehicles traveling through our community daily via I-57.

Kankakee County continues to be a vital transportation hub, supported by three Class I railroads and Illinois’ extensive freight network, where one in every four freight trains in the nation passes through the state. We also learned about the important role the Greater Kankakee Airport has played since 1962, serving the community with more than 100 hangars and approximately 50,000 flight operations each year.

Thank you to the Kankakee County Economic Alliance for hosting an informative meeting and for the work you do to support economic growth and opportunity throughout our region.

Great conversations, valuable insights, and meaningful connections! ☕️🤝

This week, KIFAR’s Emerging Professionals Network gathered at The Grove for our first Coffee & Connections session. Our discussion focused on buyer representation forms and strategies for presenting them to clients with confidence and clarity.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us for this informative conversation, and to The Grove for providing the perfect setting with live music, delicious food trucks, and a welcoming atmosphere. We’re excited to continue learning, growing, and connecting together as real estate professionals.

Rental scams are becoming increasingly common across social media platforms, including TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram. If it feels rushed, too good to be true, or you’re being asked for money before seeing a property, pause and verify.

Signs of a Rental Scam:
• The price is significantly lower than similar rentals in the area
• The “landlord” refuses to meet in person or show the property
• You are asked to send money upfront via wire transfer, gift cards, or payment apps
• The listing photos appear overly perfect or are found on multiple sites
• Pressure tactics like “apply today or it’s gone” or urgency to send deposits immediately
• The person claims to be out of town or unavailable but still wants to rent it quickly
• The property address cannot be verified or doesn’t match public records
• Communication is only through text or social media messaging apps
•Requests for personal or financial information too early in the process

Always work with trusted professionals and report suspicious listings. Protect yourself and share this to help others stay safe.
