Through the years… 💗

And what a beautiful first year it has been.

Today, we celebrate Alpha Gamma Upsilon Omega (AGUO)—chartered on April 2, 2025. One year later, we reflect on a year filled with purpose, connection, and sisterhood.

In just one year, we’ve created meaningful moments, strengthened our bonds, and built something truly special—together.

Through the years, we will continue to grow, uplift, and lead with intention.

Happy 1-Year Chartering Anniversary, AGUO 💕
Cheers to our first year and many more to come.

Today, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® pauses in sisterhood and reverence as we honor the extraordinary life and enduring legacy of Reverend Jesse Jackson.

A tireless champion for justice, Rev. Jackson stood on the frontlines of the Civil Rights Movement, working alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and later founding the Rainbow PUSH Coalition to advance economic empowerment, voting rights, and educational equity. His historic presidential campaigns in 1984 and 1988 expanded the political imagination of our nation, inspiring generations to believe that leadership at the highest levels was within reach.

As a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, our beloved Divine 9 Brother, he exemplified scholarship, perseverance, and uplift in action. With unwavering faith and fearless advocacy, he reminded us to “Keep Hope Alive,” a phrase that became both a rallying cry and a roadmap for progress.

We honor his courage. We honor his conviction. We honor his commitment to service.

And in true sisterly solidarity, we will continue the work, lifting every voice, serving all mankind, and choosing always to keep hope alive.

Because of her…there is life long perpetuity.

Today, Central Region honors the birthday of Sister Nellie Mae Quander: the woman whose vision and courage ensured the perpetuity of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. When the future of our sisterhood stood at a crossroads, she stood firm, protected our legacy, and secured our forever.

Her leadership reminds us that stewardship requires bravery, conviction, and an unshakable commitment to what must endure. We are here because she refused to waver. There was no suggestion box when history needed a decision.

We celebrate her life, her wisdom, and the lasting impact of a woman who chose preservation over popularity and legacy over comfort.

Before there was a legacy, there was a light.

Today, Central Region proudly honors the birthday of our beloved Founder, Ethel Hedgemon Lyle: the woman whose foresight, faith, and fearless commitment to excellence gave rise to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. What began as a vision became a movement; what was sparked by her leadership continues to illuminate generations.

She did more than organize a sisterhood; she set a standard. A standard of scholarship, service, and sisterhood that remains uncompromising and enduring. As our guiding light, her legacy calls us not only to remember where we began, but to lead boldly where we are going.

On this day, we did more than step pretty. We made a FIRST move that secured the legacy.

On January 29, 1913, led by the visionary and fearless Nellie M. Quander, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® became officially incorporated and protected. Sister Nellie’s leadership ensured that what our Founders built would not only last, but be preserved with intention, structure, and foresight.

This was legacy protection in real time. This was a woman seeing ahead, standing on business, and safeguarding the future of our sisterhood.

113 years later, we are still benefiting from that bold decision, built on Principle, Preservation, and Perpetuity.

Happy Incorporation Day, Sisters!🩷💚
