Basket Weaving Workshop

Join us on Saturday October 11th at the Garden for a free workshop Basket weaving using Coconut leaves. Students will learn to make a handmade basket and headband. Materials will be provided. Please sign up today before spots fill up!

Learn the traditional art of weaving with coconut leaves (lau niu) in this hands-on basket-making workshop on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Hale Pulelehua, Amy Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden.
Guided by cultural practitioner Kalā Holiday, this workshop is more than a weaving lesson—it is an invitation to connect with the practices and philosophies of his cultural heritage. Through weaving, storytelling, and other creative mediums, Kalā inspires younger generations and connects people of all ages to the living traditions of our kūpuna.
This workshop is organized by Amy Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden in collaboration with Aranya Solutions. We hope to see you there or at another Garden event soon!
