Alice Daniel Music Fund

Alice Daniel Music Fund All school-age students are eligible (Kindergarten-12th grade). The application requires the signature of both the student and the recommending music teacher.

In memory of Alice Dean-Daniel, who taught private piano lessons in Hawai'i for 34 years, the ADMF has been established to support youth music education in West Hawai'i. The Fund, which is a component of the Rotary Club of Kona Community Foundation, provides annual scholarships for private music lessons for youth recommended by their music teachers, for lessons which include the component of learn

ing to read music and understand music theory. Beginning in July 2021, scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $500 each school year (July-June). Applications are accepted through December of each award year (or until the annual funding limit is reached); applications received after December 31 will be applied to the following year’s scholarship pool. For disbursement, students and teachers are required to confirm that lessons have been conducted, by submitting a Certification Form signed by both the teacher and student, by December 15 for the fall semester and June 15 for the spring semester. Funds are disbursed directly to the teacher, in two payments, December 31 and June 30. Current scholarships that have already been committed through June 2021 will be honored on the previous disbursement schedule. Annual donation commitments are encouraged, so that we can plan for future continuation of this youth music scholarship program.
