🚒 Teaming up for safety!
The Bloomfield Fire Department proudly joined forces with our friends at Madison - Jefferson Fire & Rescue yesterday to visit the amazing students and staff at Oak Hill Elementary for Fire Prevention Week!
We had a great time talking about fire safety, answering questions, showing off the apparatus, and practicing what to do in an emergency. A huge thank you to Oak Hill Elementary for being such great hosts, and to the Madison-Jefferson crew for the continued partnership in keeping our community safe.
Parents & Guardians: Please use this week as a reminder to test your smoke detectors and practice your family escape plan at home. Stay safe! 🚨👩‍🚒👨‍🚒

Training night‼️‼️‼️
Tonight several of our members met for our monthly training meeting. This month we discussed and practice various auto extrication techniques that will be crucial when needing to access the passenger compartment of a vehicle in the event of an accident.

A huge thank you to High Road Towing & Recovery for dropping us off a car to dismember. Your support is appreciated!

As our training increases and our capabilities improve, we must adapt to the needs of our community. We have several members who have worked tirelessly to receive emergency medical certifications so we can start a first responder program. We have also seen an increase in flooding and the need for water rescues when we get intense storms. So our members have pursued swift water rescue training to be better prepared.
Because of these needs, we have increased our fleet to include Unit 1111. This utility vehicle will be used to respond to emergency medical calls, pull our boat to water rescues, carry members to agency assistance calls, respond to mutual aid calls for manpower, and various other trainings as needed.
We are thankful for the continued support of our community as we continue to grow.

Members of Bloomfield Fire Department spent their Saturday making further upgrades to the station. Projects completed include:
-Painting the wall in the bay
-New lighting in the bathrooms
-New flooring in the bathrooms
-Relocating gear washer to allow room for our growing roster

Projects like this show the pride our members have in their station. We are thankful for the members’ willingness to give up a Saturday for the cause.

This upgrade was funded with $40,000 worth of grant money secured through the Safety Intervention Grant from the Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation. These extrication tools will minimize the noise pollution and trip hazards on fire scenes due to not needing hydraulic power units and hoses.
We remain dedicated to our community and will continue pursuing grants like this to responsibly upgrade our equipment while minimizing out of pocket expenses.
