Holiday sleepover details.
We have a few dogs that would love to spend the holidays visiting people. If you are interested, please read this post completely. Hopefully all your questions will be answered in this post. If you are still interested, please call the shelter to arrange a time for pickup.
1. You can choose the dog you want to foster. We reserve the right to deny choices based on it being a good fit. We don't want you or the dog to be miserable during this experience.
2. Not everyone that interested will be able to foster due to a limited number of dogs. Some dogs will still be on stray hold or held due to court cases.
3. You'll have the option to adopt. You'll still be responsible for any fees associated with adopting.
4. You are responsible for the dog while it is in your care. This means that you must follow all leash laws & be a good representative of the shelter. We ask that you be extremely diligent to prevent any accidents. Dogs should be walked on a leash and not trusted to not escape yards.
5. We will provide you with food, bowls, toys, bed, crate, leash, & collar.
6. There is limited health risk but there is always a risk of transmittable disease. All the dogs are vaccinated, treated for fleas and ticks, and dewormed. We will not send out any dogs that appear to have any communicable illnesses.
7. If you have other dogs at home, bring them to meet so that we can make sure that there won't be excessive friction in the house.
8. No one under the age of 18 will be allowed to come and pick up a dog without the parent or guardian with them. We asked that all adults make sure that everyone in the household agrees to this arrangement.
9. If things do not work out, someone will be available to meet you at the shelter to return your dog if needed.
10. You will be asked to provide as much information as possible on the dog's behavior while in your home. This will help us place them in an appropriate home later on.
11. The shelter is not liable for any damages done to property while the dog is in your care. So please keep that in mind when visiting. If you are a neat freak this may not be the opportunity for you. We cannot guarantee how the dogs will behave in a home.
12. We are going to base this on a first come first serve type of basis. You can let us know what dog you're interested in when you call to make your meet and greet appointment but that does not guarantee that that dog will be available. If you don't see a dog in the photos that you are interested in, but you still want to foster, call the shelter for updated availability because we may have other dogs available to foster that are not pictured.
13. The dogs are to be house dogs only. We do not encourage dogs to be tied up outside or living in pens.
Since we've never done this before, please be patient with us. New rules may be put in place based on how things go 🙂
