We're looking for Crew Leaders and Crew Members to join our AmeriCorps crew in the new year. Positions are 12 months, starting in January and ending in December.

Learn how to run chainsaws, conduct prescribed burns and safely apply herbicides all while restoring habitat and earning an education award!

📣 Get ready! The Wings & Wild Things Festival is back for a third year on Sunday, October 4th. Celebrate Iowa's natural world and enjoy hands-on learning and recreation activities in Johnson County's beautiful Kent Park 🦋. It's not goodbye, it's see ya later! 👋

Our AmeriCorps crew for the 25-26 program year wrapped up their 12 months of service with us last week and we couldn't be prouder.

This group served thousands of hours in the field tackling Iowa's most aggressive invasive plants with fire, chainsaws and their own two hands. At the end of all their hard work, they're still smiling.

Congratulations on completing your AmeriCorps service and thank you for everything Diandra, Grace, Hannah, Isabelle, Joanna, Kenzie, Olivia and Renny!

Thank you and congratulations, too, to our host site members Drew, Isabel and John at Johnson County Conservation and The Nature Conservancy in Iowa. Your service means more biodiversity, healthier habitat for wildlife and more enjoyable places for the community to experience nature.

Seeking monarch roosts - Have you seen one? 🦋

Monarch butterflies should be roosting in trees in Johnson County about now as they get ready for migration and we want to know where they are.

If you spot a roost - typically more than 10 butterflies together - at a Bur Oak preserve, please send us a direct message on social media or an email to [email protected] with the date and location.

Calling all nature photographers and enthusiasts 🗣️

Join us for a pop-up hike at Corriell Nature Preserve this Sunday to see the wildlife of the sand prairie, wetlands and oak savanna.

The hike is from 12:30-2:30 p.m. this Sunday at 2060 155th St., Atalissa. No registration is required.

Things to know: Wear sturdy shoes and bring your own water and bug spray. There are no restrooms at the preserve. Please pack out what you bring in!

You're invited to celebrate our conservation wins of the year and raise support for key conservation projects where they matter most.
