We are so excited to welcome Ciara Von Holten of Anahata and Soul and her beautiful handmade art, journals, and jewelry to our Holiday Art Sale and Lantern Festival on Sunday, November 15th! We cannot wait for everyone to explore the creativity and unique handmade pieces our amazing vendors will be bringing to the event. Being able to collaborate with these talented artists has made planning this event so exciting! We invite all to join in this festival and we are grateful for their support of our work at ICCompassion.

Hello friends, if you need a festive excursion this fall, we will be hosting an Art & Lantern Festival on November 15 from 1 to 6 PM. This gathering will feature local artists and introduce local products from agroforestry farms in the community. Guests may also purchase a floating lantern to decorate benefitting IC Compassion . Decorated lanterns will join a group display during the event and will be released on the pond at the end of the evening. I’m very much looking forward to the festivities and would love to have you join us!

Before I go, I want to give a huge shout out to the The University of Iowa students helping to plan and market this event - Addy, Peyton, Marlee, Maddie and Lizzie. They’ve done an incredible job and their help has been invaluable!

The Trump administration has moved to eliminate legal protections for more than 1 million immigrants that have TPS. Of the 17 countries with the designation at the start of the second Trump administration, the only remaining protections are for Ukraine and Sudan, which are set to end on Monday, and Lebanon, which is set to expire Nov. 27.

More than 100,000 Ukrainians and roughly 2,000 Sudanese immigrants could lose their humanitarian protections by Monday.

Join us tomorrow with our friends Great Plains Action Society at the GPAS Community Hub for our last Thursday night farmers market of the season! We have really appreciated everyone coming out for good food, good music, and good conversation with our Iowa City community members. We will have the market at 810 Maiden Lane, Iowa City, IA from 5pm to 7pm. There will be live music and space for seating: have an instrument? Have an interest in music? Come and jam with us!
Our vendors accept cash, check, SNAP/EBT, Double Up Food Bucks, and some vendors accept Senior and WIC vouchers.
