❄️ From The City of Iowa City:
Our Winter Clothing Distribution event is finally upon us. I want to start by thanking you all for committing your valuable time to support this important endeavor and helping those in need in our community.
❄️At this time, I have good news and an urgent need to share with you all.
❄️The good news? We have received an overwhelming amount of donations, meaning we are going to help keep so many of our neighbors warm this winter. And the urgent need? The amount of donations received means we simply do not have enough hands at this time to sort it all in time for the actual distribution.
❄️You do not need to be signed up to volunteer, just show up! If you, your friends, family, coworkers, or anyone else you know has the ability to donate additional time, we will be sorting today, Oct. 13, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Thursday, Oct. 15, from 9 a.m. to noon. Stop by The River Community Church, 3001 Muscatine Ave., and enter the driveway at the posted sign.
❄️Thank you again for your invaluable support for this event and your consideration of this urgent request.

Best,
T’Shailyn Harrington

🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏽🏃🏼‍♂️🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏼‍♂️🏃🏽Run For The Schools! Sunday October 18 this event will make its annual run through the western edge of Lucas Farms. Runners come down Gilbert, turn east on Highland, then north on Keokuk, and back west on Kirkwood. (See link in comments for more details. )
We’ve been encouraged to give the runners a welcome! We’ve made signs that mention each school, pointing out historical connections, and we’ve also prepared yellow ribbons in honor of Borlaug’s loss of a student and teacher that will be on trees and poles along the route. WE NEED HELPERS TO POST SIGNS AND RIBBONS. It would only be about an hour time commitment. Reply or message here if you are interested. In the meantime, read the incredible historical connections Lucas Farms has to the namesakes of many Iowa City Schools!

🦇 🎃 🐍 🦇 🎃 🐍 🦇 🎃 🐍 🦇 🎃 🐍 Halloween Post # 7- Check out Hobby Corner at Iowa City Marketplace for some creepy-crawly gifts and accessories. This bat looks vicious! They also have an assortment of slithering snakes, plush germs and viruses that could accessorize a costume and dragon kites that could be used for decor at a Halloween party. Hobby Corner is owned by two brothers who grew up in Lucas Farms!
