$1.73 → $2.21.
Just a few months ago, it cost Second Helpings $1.73 to prepare and deliver a meal. Today, that cost is $2.21.
If your grocery bill feels different lately, you understand why.
While much of the food we use is generously rescued and donated, there are still ingredients we need to purchase. Add in supplies, packaging, fuel and the cost of delivering thousands of meals across central Indiana, and those increases add up quickly.
And they don’t just affect us.
The same rising costs are hitting the neighbors we serve — people already making difficult choices about groceries, rent, utilities, medicine and other necessities. Changes to SNAP are creating additional uncertainty for some households that depend on those benefits to help put food on the table.
When it costs more to feed our families, it costs more to fight hunger, too. And at a time when every dollar buys a little less, our community needs us to do even more.
Your support helps us keep our kitchens cooking, our trucks moving and nutritious meals reaching neighbors across central Indiana.
Rising costs. Rising need. One community showing up for each other.
