Behavioral health has become especially meaningful to Amy and her family, with them recently directing support from their donor-advised fund to Riley Children's Health Intensive Outpatient Program. This program provides patients who don’t require hospitalization with more support than traditional outpatient care.

“When a young person is struggling with their mental health, it doesn’t affect just them,” said Amy. “It can affect the entire family. For parents, knowing where to turn and finding the right level of care at the right time can make the difference. If our philanthropic support can help make that kind of care available to more children and give more families hope during an incredibly difficult time, that feels deeply meaningful to us.”

This summer, Riley kid Joshua claimed two National Runner-Up titles at the US Para Swimming National Championship! On Thursday, he shared his medals with Dr. Mark Cain.

Joshua first met Dr. Cain as a newborn needing his expert surgical care. Today, Josh is in high school and a member of the National Honor Society and the House of Delegates for Indiana Swimming.

“Riley and Dr. Cain are responsible for these medals,” said Joshua’s dad, Keith. “Without the care Joshua received since before he was born, these medals and everything else he has attained in his life would not have been possible.”

National Donor-Advised Fund Day is one week away!

For Riley donors like Amy, DAFs are an efficient and flexible way to support programs that matter most to them. A DAF allows donors to make tax-deductible contributions that can be invested to grow charitable impact.

“I like the flexibility a donor-advised fund gives us to be thoughtful and intentional about our philanthropy,” said Amy. “We can set aside funds for charitable giving and then make grants when and where we feel they can have the greatest impact.”
