Help Us Inspire Others to Give! đź’›

As we prepare for on December 1, we're searching for a special individual, family, or business to help us make every gift go further with a matching donation.

What a wonderful way to celebrate 40 years of caring for families facing homelessness and inspire even more generosity throughout our community!

Let's talk about creating a matching gift opportunity that's right for you.

A warm meal has been part of Dayspring's story from the very beginning.

What began as a daily feeding program grew into a soup kitchen and overnight shelter in an Episcopal church basement in Indianapolis's Old Northside neighborhood.

Today, that same spirit of caring for our neighbors lives on in Dayspring's kitchen. Most families arrive at Dayspring experiencing food insecurity, often unsure where their next meal will come from. Here, they can count on nutritious meals, prepared with love and served with kindness.

Every month, "Mr. Roscoe" and his wonderful kitchen team, volunteers, and community partners prepare and serve more than 3,000 meals for the families in our care.

40 years of caring hearts, helping hands, and full tummies. We're still serving up the love! ❤️

For 40 years, families have come through Dayspring's doors looking for a safe place to stay together and a little hope for the days ahead. Much has changed over those years, but the love and compassion at the heart of Dayspring remain the same.

That same spirit carries us into our next chapter as we welcome Vincent L. Smith as our new Executive Director. We're excited for the years ahead and for the many families whose lives we'll have the privilege of touching.

To everyone who has been part of Dayspring's story, thank you. Your kindness has helped make this a place where families can find comfort, support, and a new beginning.

There’s still time to make meaningful for a family.

For a family experiencing homelessness, the journey back to stability rarely happens all at once. It happens one step at a time, with a safe place to stay, people who care, resources to help, and a community willing to stand beside them.

If you have charitable dollars available through a Donor-Advised Fund, we hope you’ll consider recommending a grant to Dayspring Center today.

Because behind every gift is a family working toward a more hopeful tomorrow.

Have a Donor-Advised Fund? Helping a Dayspring family may be easier than you think.

What does your generosity mean at Dayspring? A safe place for a family to stay together. A warm meal. Support finding housing and employment. Care and stability for children during an uncertain time. And the chance for a family to begin again.

One simple action can become something much bigger for a family.

Today is , and it’s a wonderful reminder that generosity can take many forms.

If you have a Donor-Advised Fund, you already have charitable dollars set aside to support causes that matter to you. Today, you can recommend a grant to Dayspring Center and help a family experiencing homelessness find safety, stability, and hope.

For 40 years, Dayspring Center has helped families facing homelessness have a place where they can stay together and begin moving forward. If Dayspring is close to your heart, your Donor-Advised Fund is one more way you can be part of that care.

Support our mission by recommending a grant from your donor-advised fund.

Children have always been at the heart of Dayspring.

In 2011, that commitment grew with the creation of our Children’s Services Program. We knew then, as we know now, that homelessness affects children in ways that aren’t always easy to see. They need more than a safe place to sleep. They need care, consistency, encouragement, and the chance to simply be kids.

In 2025, Dayspring served 142 children, supporting their academic, emotional, cognitive, and physical well-being. When developmental concerns are identified, our team helps connect each child with the individual care and support they need, continuing that support for up to six months.

Throughout our history, the heart of this work remains the same: helping every child who comes through our doors feel safe, supported, and hopeful about what comes next.

Today, our hearts are filled with gratitude for Teresa Wessel.

When Dayspring Center needed someone to step forward during one of the most difficult chapters in our history, Teresa did so with compassion, strength, and an extraordinary commitment to our mission.

Over the past five months, as Interim Executive Director, she provided the steady leadership our staff, families, donors, and community needed. She helped Dayspring navigate profound loss and change while ensuring that the work at the heart of our mission continued: welcoming families, caring for children, and helping those experiencing homelessness find stability and hope.

Teresa came to this role with deep respect for Dayspring, its people, and the legacy entrusted to all of us. She leaves it having made her own lasting contribution to that legacy.

As Dayspring begins a new chapter, we want to take this moment simply to say thank you.

Teresa, your leadership, generosity, expertise, and compassion have meant more than words can adequately express. You were there when Dayspring needed you, and you made an immeasurable difference.

With heartfelt gratitude from the Dayspring Center Board of Directors, staff, and the families and community we serve: thank you, Teresa. ❤️

Dayspring Center has some exciting news to share.

We are so pleased to welcome Vincent Smith as our new permanent Executive Director, beginning October 5. After a careful search, we are confident Vince is the right leader to carry forward the mission that Lori E. Casson gave so much of herself to build. We are also incredibly grateful to Teresa Wessel, whose generosity and leadership over the past five months meant the world to our team and to the families we serve.

Vince brings deep experience in housing, workforce development, and community service, and a genuine heart for this work. We cannot wait to see what this next chapter holds.

Welcome to the Dayspring family, Vince!
