The start of a new school year is an exciting time for many students. But for those without access to new clothes and school supplies, it can bring anxiety and stress — not anticipation. This lack of resources can lead to lower confidence, higher absenteeism, and missed learning opportunities.

Every student deserves to start the school year with the tools they need to succeed.

Thanks to your past support, our Christmas in July and Adopt-a-Family programs have helped hundreds of children in our community feel ready and excited for the first day of school. We’re reaching out again this year in hopes you’ll join us in supporting even more families in need.

As America celebrates its 250th birthday, the Rotary Club's "Ignite Indy: America 250" campaign is working to raise $25,000 for an unforgettable community fireworks display on July 4th.

🎆Again this year, the Independence Rotary Club is championing a fundraising campaign to support the annual 4th of July community fireworks show. With a goal of $25,000, the “Ignite Indy: America 250” campaign is now accepting financial contributions through the Community Foundation for Independence (CFFI), and the Rotary Club is planning a special fundraising event to support the campaign.

🌭On Friday, June 19, Rotarians will be serving up hot dogs, fixings, chips and drinks for lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Patio 210 for a recommended $10 donation to the fireworks fund. Delivery of lunch orders to business locations also is available by calling (620) 332-2536.

💲Donors also may visit https://donorbox.org/rotary-fireworks-campaign-2026 to contribute to the Ignite Indy campaign. Donations by cash or check may be made by contacting any Rotary member or Fred Meier, Rotary’s fireworks committee leader, at (620) 332-4906 or [email protected]. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

“As our country celebrates its 250th birthday, we are anticipating an especially epic fireworks display in our community,” Meier said. “We’ve always enjoyed generous support from our local citizens and businesses for our fireworks tradition, and we couldn’t be more grateful.”

Meier said the effort is just shy of halfway to the goal at this point, with approximately $12,250 raised to date.

💙“If everyone gives just a little, we’ll be sure to hit our target. There’s no better place to celebrate our country’s independence than in Independence.”
