Hey, Friends! I've got TWO THINGS happening tomorrow (Monday, September 21)!
1) I will be performing BOTH volumes of "Man Cave, a One-Man Sci-Fi Climate Change Tragicomedy" at Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois (just a short hop for most of my Chicago-area friends)! It's a free show and you can find more details here: https://www.alumni.lewisu.edu/page.aspx?pid=1517

I've seen at least a dozen midsummers over the years, and Breakneck does not leave out any of the best bits - but Tim Mooney, with his ridiculous and irreverent sensibility, makes the venerable classic into a contemporary treat without concealing one bit of Will Shakes. If you want to laugh, you can't go wrong with the very energetic and elastic performances in BN Midsummer!"

The following was posted by a friend of a friend who shared it with me…!

Last night I saw "Breakneck Midsummer" at the Indy Fringe Festival. This wasn't just the best 60 minute abridged Shakespeare play I've seen, this was one of the best Shakespeare productions I've seen.

They aren't lying about it being "breakneck": the 6 actors playing all the roles push through the major scenes and beats of the show through sheer energy and efficiency, while still keeping the dialogue clear and the action focused.

Their physicality (along with bare minimum costuming) does wonders in keeps straight who is who. I won't spoil things, but several of the character choices were laughably brilliant. I was amazed to find out that the actors (from Kansas City, Chicago, and Indy's own Matt Anderson) were only able to rehearse in-person this week.

The choice of play also works for the format. Midsummer has such a farcical soul that the zaniness works well. If you have the time, please check this one out. If you're not fond of Shakespeare, this is a play you will enjoy. If you are a fantastic of the Bard, this show delivers. Go see it!
