Please donate if you are able!! This is so sad!!!
Update Thursday morning:
He made it through the night, which is a huge relief. Dr. Meadows checked on him several times overnight, and this morning he's neurologically more stable and a little brighter.
He's still dealing with low blood pressure, dehydration, and a slightly low body temperature, but all of those are improving. They were able to give him more pain medication today since he's stable enough for it, and the maggots are now under control.
His nose injury is going to be managed as an open wound for now before they close it. His left front leg has been splinted (fractured), but there is still some concern about possible nerve damage. It's just too early to know for sure.
This is a very encouraging update! The main concerns that I see is he could possibly need the leg amputated and there possibly could be some ongoing neurological damage. We will just have to wait and see, but it sounds like we are moving in the right direction for sure!

Update 5:30 pm Wednesday: Acorn has some head trauma, he was hypothermic, and there was a swarm of flies around the wounds on his belly :( The doctor is working on him. They did classify him as critical, so keep those prayers coming. I will continue to update as we hear anything.

Acorn needs prayers, positive vibes, and anything else you have as he heads to the vet this morning. This poor (mostly feral) cat was hiding under a riding lawnmower, unbeknownst to the operator, when it was started up. As you can imagine, they feel awful and this was just a terrible accident that could have happened to anyone. The operator even banged on the mower before starting it as they always do but unfortunately Acorn stayed underneath.
Thank God truly for Dr. Meadows for allowing him to be rushed in this morning even though he is already beyond busy. We know Acorn will be in great hands. It sounds like Acorn may have some wounds on his belly as well.
We really need the community to come together and help us cover all of these vet bills. As if the timing couldn't be any worse, we also need to place an order for medications to the tune of $450. We expect the total needed for past due vet bills, Mr. Noodles appointment yesterday, Cade's appointment yesterday, the three kittens going in for rabies shots today, and the medication order to be around $1600. This does not include anything for Acorn as we won't know how bad the situation is until he is sedated and the doctor can evaluate.
We really need help now more than ever. I know many people will wonder why we spend money to save feral cats. Its a simple answer, they are all deserving of life and happiness. We have rehabbed many many formerly feral cats who end up being wonderful companions. Some may have never warmed up to humans but they are still happy and living their best cat lives. We have many more successes than failures but it takes time and patience.
All forms of rescues are needed. Some focus on taking in and adopting out kittens or friendly adults, some sanctuary leukemia positive cats, some do tnr only, we choose to rehab these kinds of cats- the cats that don't have other options. The overlooked, shy, scared, feral cats. That is what my heart is drawn to. They deserve all of the good things in life just like our house cats do. Call me crazy but this is a hill I will die on.
Can you all help us come up with $1600 to cover EVERYTHING, up until Acorn's bill? $1100 needs to go to the vet and $500 is to order medication not from our vet.
Even sending $2 makes a difference. It all adds up. We appreciate anything anyone can do, from donations to shares and prayers. We need your help to keep saving these often overlooked kitties.
We will update as soon as we get some news on Acorn 🙏
