Nine years ago, Smokey Bear teamed up with Dolly Parton in a fire-prevention campaign for the Great Smoky Mountains.

Parton, heartbroken over the wildfires affecting her hometown, joined Smokey in a public service announcement urging people not to burn leaves, avoid parking on dry grass, and be cautious with campfires.

Rest in peace, Dolly. And remember — What would Dolly do? Follow her advice by staying vigilant and following all fire restrictions.

🚫 NO FIRES AT YELLOW POST SITES

Attention Forest Visitors 🌲

We’re currently under elevated fire restrictions, as detailed in Forest Order No. 05 12 00 26 05, effective June 9 – November 30, 2026 https://www.fs.usda.gov/r05/sanbernardino/alerts/fire-restrictions As such, there are:

🚫 No Fires at Yellow Post Sites

Building, attending, or using any fire, campfire, or charcoal fire is prohibited, except in Forest Service–provided campfire rings or BBQs in designated developed recreation sites listed in Exhibit A 12.
Yellow Post sites are primitive dispersed campsites, not designated developed sites, so no wood or charcoal fires are allowed at these locations under the current order

🔥 What You Can Use Instead

Portable gas or pressurized fuel stoves, lanterns, and small heaters are allowed, BUT ONLY IF:

- You have a valid California campfire permit
- You operate them at least 5 feet away from any flammable materials
- They burn only gas, kerosene, jellied petroleum, or pressurized liquid fuel and include a shut-off valve 12

✅ Please Remember:

🔥 No wood/charcoal fires at yellow post sites. Violations are subject to fines or imprisonment 12
