ARF Animal Rescue Friends of Idyllwild CA ARF is a non-profit 501(c)3 volunteer rescue for lost, abandoned, or unwanted pets. We are open on weekends and by appointment M through F.

We also offer vaccination clinics and nail trim clinics monthly. Welcome to ARF, the little rescue with the big heart. We are located in the mountain village of Idyllwild, CA where we have been serving the community since 1994. An all-volunteer, grassroots, non-profit organization, ARF’s mission is to rescue animals that have been abandoned, lost, or whose owners are no longer able to care for the

m. We provide foster care until forever homes are located. All our animals are spay/neutered, receive necessary shots and other veterinary care as needed. Each year, relying only on the generosity of donors and small grants, ARF helps an increasing number of dogs and cats, turning sad stories into happy tails. ARF has always worked to educate our population about the importance of responsible pet ownership, including the need for spay/neuter and heartworm disease prevention. Is your yard accidentally inviting in wildlife?

Many people enjoy sharing space with their animal neighbors, and there can absolutely be a time and place for that! However, what feels welcoming or harmless in one yard can unintentionally increase the risk of conflict in the next.

Wild carnivores, like coyotes, are drawn to the same things many animals are: food, water, and shelter. A few simple changes around your home can help prevent conflicts and keep both people and wildlife safer.

Try this quick “yard audit”:

✔️ Bring pet food indoors
✔️ Secure trash & compost
✔️ Pick up fallen fruit
✔️ Remove easy water sources
✔️ Don’t leave pets unattended outdoors
✔️ Trim dense hiding spots under decks & shrubs

Most conflicts can be prevented before they start, especially when neighbors work together.

Ladies and gentlemen, meet Ruffles! Ruffles is about 4 years old, house trained, sleeps well in a crate, and is very good with other dogs. He doesnt seem to care abouy cats at all. His foster says he has such a good temperament and nature. He likes to go on walks (and probably some hikes).

Milo, only 38 lbs, is a well trained, loving boy. He is looking for a forever home. His wonderful foster has done some much work with him (and without doubt her dogs have helped!), so he is ready for you!

If you have canned dog food hanging g around because your dog has turned up her nose at it please don't toss it! We will happily take it. We're down to absolutely none. We're good on kibble, however.
