We’re already gearing up for back-to-school season and making sure our youth are set up for success!

Equipped to Learn: Back to School Free Supply Drive is officially OPEN for registration! 🙌🏽

Last year, the turnout was incredible with over 500 community members showing up and we’re preparing to support even more families this year. We’ll have 350 backpacks available for pre-registration, along with the opportunity to shop FREE school supplies based on USD 308 lists.

August 8th
10 AM – 1 PM

Pre-registration is highly encouraged to secure your spot. Once those fill up, remaining supplies will be available for walk-ins the day of.

Two events in one day!!

We had an amazing time at today’s Fishing Derby in partnership with Lil’ Hawks! 🎣

From first casts to big smiles, it was such a beautiful day watching our youth and families out by the water, learning, laughing, and just being present together. NextGen Outdoors reminds us that there is something special about slowing down, connecting with nature, and creating memories side by side.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out and made today so much fun, your energy is what makes these moments so meaningful.

Shoutout to Cabela’s for providing fishing rods for our kids and helping make this experience accessible for so many.

To our partners at Lil’ Hawks, we’re so grateful for this collaboration. The fact that we’re already planning another one after the fair says everything about the kind of community we’re building together.

We had such a great time at United. Read. Connect. with the United Way of Reno County! 📚

From exploring literacy through play to connecting with families about our programs, our WIM table stayed busy all day! We brought a hands-on literacy game, helped families get signed up, and our Plinko board was a hit! Children spelled a word based on the letter it landed on and received a prize after.

It is powerful to bring learning, joy, and community together in one space. Thank you to United Way and all the amazing organizations who made this day possible. 💛

Young people do not just need another program.

They need a steady adult.
They need someone who will show up.
They need someone who will listen, encourage, and help them believe their future can be different.

At Wisdom In Motion, we are seeing more and more youth who need positive adults in their lives.

Our mentors do more than simply spend time with youth. They help them build confidence, life skills, career readiness, and hope for the future through meaningful relationships and hands-on experiences.

Right now, one of our greatest needs is adults who are willing to give as little as one hour a week to invest in a young person’s life.

There are also other ways to get involved through:
🎣 Fishing and outdoor activities
🌱 Urban Farm
🍽️ International Cooking
💼 Career Readiness and life skills
🤝 Group activities and special events

You do not have to be perfect.
You do not have to have all the answers.
You just have to care and be willing to show up.

Mentor Spotlight: Turning Experience Into Impact

At Wisdom In Motion, we are proud to have mentors who bring real-life experience, passion, and dedication to the youth we serve. Today, we’re excited to highlight one of those incredible individuals.

One of our mentors, Jenni Winters, a former educator, has taken her years in the classroom, the good, the challenging, and everything in between, and turned them into something powerful: a book that shares her journey and the lessons she’s learned along the way. 📚

Her story is a testament to her commitment to youth, her resilience, and her desire to continue making a difference beyond the classroom. That same passion is what she brings to her role as a mentor with Wisdom In Motion, where she continues to guide, support, and inspire the next generation.

We are incredibly grateful to have her as part of our team and proud to celebrate this accomplishment with her.

Happy Birthday Month to our incredible leaders, Heather & Mike Jobe! 🎉

This month, we celebrate the deep and lasting impact they have on Wisdom in Motion and our entire community.

Heather (belated but so very celebrated!) is truly the heartbeat behind our programming. As our Program Director, she keeps everything moving forward with care, intention, and excellence. From facilitating our programs to encouraging our youth and ensuring every detail is in place, she embodies what it means to lead with commitment, integrity, and heart.

She shows up in every way that matters, compassionate and always ready to pour into others. Because of Heather, our youth feel supported, our programs run seamlessly, and our mission is lived out every single day.

Mike, our Founder & CEO, is the visionary behind Wisdom in Motion. As a Kauffman Kid recipient, he knows firsthand the power of someone believing in you, investing in you, and helping you find your path forward.

What makes Mike so special is that he took that experience and turned it into purpose. WIM was created for the youth who might otherwise fall through the cracks, the ones who just need opportunity, guidance, and someone to remind them of their worth.

Because of his leadership, we actively build and imagine a better future for all youth.

It is also important to highlight what they represent together.

They give of themselves fully for their family, their work, our community, and the youth we serve. Through their leadership with the Hutch NAACP, NAACP Youth, Hutchinson Youth City Council, and The People’s Table, they have consistently shown what it means to serve with purpose and lead with love. As local realtors, they navigate housing options for so many in our community, county, and state who may not know where to start. From start to finish, they ensure every person that they serve feel supported.

They pour into our youth across Reno County, creating spaces where they are seen, supported, and empowered. That dedication is rare and it does not go unnoticed.

Our programs are stronger, our community is more connected, and our future is brighter because of them.

On this special month, we want to recognize that they are seen and so very appreciated.
